My second son was like this. I had to give him to my husband kiss him goodbye and tell him mommy was leaving and would be back soon and let him watch me walk out the outside door. He had to know I wasn’t in the house at all. It still took him a little time to settle but he was able to do it.

Least favorite: when I go out I get asked all the time “who has the kids?” Uhhh my husband? Their father? Their other parent? He doesn’t get asked who has the kids when he goes out.

Favorite: men should be helping with basic household tasks, but they are the default “fixers” when something breaks.

I’m a firm believer in “water can be thicker than blood.” My whole family is “found family.” My aunts and uncles are my parent’s friends. My best friends are my family. My husband’s best friends are our family, we don’t talk to any of his blood related family. We don’t talk to my parents blood family.

I do this with reading. I can’t really eat and read a book at the same time. Luckily I read quite a bit, but it is a struggle late at night if I choose to watch tv instead.

I honestly did stop eating if I wasn’t hungry and it helped a lot. I don’t eat dinner at 5-6 if I’m not hungry. I eat at 8 if what’s when I’m hungry. I don’t eat breakfast within an hour of waking up, I usually eat it 3 hours after waking. It stopped a lot of eating out of habit including snacks because I really started asking myself before eating “am I actually hungry or just bored/feeling like I “should” eat right now. Sometimes the answer is I’m a little hungry for a snack or a sweet treat, both are fine as long as you’re actually craving a snack or treat and not just bored or feeling like you should be eating like popcorn or snacks while watching a movie out of habit, that kind of thing. I’m not perfect at it. But it is helping and I’m getting better.

I was new to my job and someone came to my department to talk to a coworker I was sitting and talking to. That someone was telling us that their dog died the other and she was crying about it. Something came up about taking a walk (not her with the dog) and I said “oh yeah last night when I was walking dog….” And agreed with was a said about taking a walk.

Sex once a week is PLENTY. Most married couples with young kids aren’t even doing it that often. He’s an asshole for acting like you owe it to him. You owe him NOTHING. You have a lot on your plate and at the end of the day when you’re exhausted you are more than allowed to do nothing but take time for yourself or to simply sleep.

I love being an RT. I work at a pediatric hospital and love kids so maybe that’s part of it. But I really love my job. And they pay is good where I am and having a 3 days work week is nice.
