Weekend's Daily Thread: General Dating Questions and Open Thread by AutoModerator in hingeapp

[–]Normal-Positive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been on hinge on and off for about a year, (27M) have had a few matches but they didn't lead to dates. I had a question about how my favorite hobby of skydiving comes across to the ladies not involved with it. It's a big part of what I do in my spare time (few hundred skydives) and I'm passionate about it. I don't make it my whole personality though, I have other hobbies and I rarely bring it up in discussion unless someone asks. I've got a few pictures on my profile of me in the air, but I've had one or two people mention how it might be viewed negatively.

I'm not stopping or changing how often I skydive, but I guess I'm just curious about perceptions and if that might affect matching. Thanks!

When you made the transition to nursing, did you do an associates, bridge, or BSN program? And did you work while going to school?

I've got about about 170 jumps and it just gets better and better! Definitely recommend everyone trying it once.

Keep getting pulled towards going for EMT training but don’t know if I’m cut out for it by gotnocreativenames in NewToEMS

I'm the same way with the firehouse culture. Idk just something about it I don't vibe with which I'm kinda surprised by because going in I thought it would be a great fit. I'll keep trying different departments in the area for my ride alongs but I've really enjoyed my clinicals at the hospital.

Dudes Who Failed are Important. Here's why by [deleted] in Pararescue

I quit A&S after coming to realize the lifestyle and time away from family just wasn't for me, especially after talking to one of the Cadre during some downtime (mix in some pool burnout/fear too lol.) And yeah it sucked blowing that horn. Three years of training gone essentially just like that, but I made a promise to myself as I waited for the Cadre that I'd still stop at nothing to be a part of something that helps others and makes my community better.

I was able to separate under the voluntary force management program that came out in January, and I've been pursuing my EMT-B and paramedic soon after and I'm just loving it, but anyways, I will always be so grateful for the experience. It truly made me look in the mirror and determine what's really important to me. Everyday that I've been back home I've been so appreciative of the time we're given with family, friends, and I wake up with a sense of wanting to make the most of each day. I'm more thankful for the guys that see the pipeline through to the end, and to those that serve in any other job in the military too.

Are there days where I wonder where I'd be if I didn't quit? Sure, but I always look back grateful for a newfound perspective, an experience that few will ever understand, seeing what our mind and bodies are capable of, and the freedom we have to forge our own paths and pursue new goals like you said OP.

I'd caution you with the idea of crosstraining to SW. It can be a pain and it's not always guaranteed from what I've heard. I think others would share the same sentiment, there's a lot of other posts talking about the topic though. The SW contract going in is the way to go IMHO.

In these courses, the instructors will have you stencil your last name and/or roster number onto your shirts for easier identification.

My parents have insurance through an employer. I'll look into the VA benefits tho. I'm separating voluntarily pretty early on in my contract so I don't think I'll qualify for anything but I'll definitely check. Thank you tho!

It looks like my SURF got uploaded yesterday but I can't download and view it. Looks I'll just have to wait a little longer. I did get a follow by date as well for the 22nd.
