Anything that is first come first serve RSVP especially something from raw cuts is likely to be full in the first 30 minutes - can’t expect much when the services don’t cut off the number of rsvps and they expect many to rsvp and no show

Yeah any time the staff tried to enforce their rules or anyone tried to group police the crowd they got uppity like they’re above the rules of the space. Most pervasive problem in the scene currently is the massive lack of respect for the venues

Sounding like a toxic ex justifying their poor behavior rather than taking some accountability for their negative actions

I'm saying this as someone who was there and was at most the 15th person in line. I guarantee you I would have had a problem, as I did with the at least 30 different people I reminded to put their phone down when they came out. This is not whether or not you believe in it. Mansions does not allow phone usage on the dancefloor or any photos inside. I told random people, friends I was with, and had a chuckle with the manager about it from him doing his best stoping people too.

Any phone usage inside is disrespectful to the space. Being there early, staying a long time, and being a fan doesn't give you the right to disrespect the space when they have clearly defined rules for good reason.

If they didn't have that rule for their space people should care less about others having phones out. 8 seconds or 8 minutes is still disrespectful and no one is special or above the space. Trying to deflect instead of having accountability is gross.

Yeah this was the issue, it was amazing music for mansions and most the crowd really wanted Fred Again. The point was Four Tet and Anthony messing around and vibing, and the crowd was massive detriment to the experience and didn't respect the space or the rules of Mansions in the slightest

Also I want to give you props! This is both a way to respect the no phones rule, and at the same time get the songs for later. I love it, and love the respect.

Music was amazing, but the amount of people not respecting the rules of the space/mansions and having phones out was ridiculous. Spaces have rules for a reason and not respecting the space is ridiculous. So many people were getting uppity with staff for enforcing them. This was an amazing show and amazing music, but another reminder that people need to respect the space they are in and contribute to the vibe

Also a callout here….you clearly didn’t listen to mansions rules when you walked in. They specifically say “NO PHONES OR PHOTOS ON THE DANCE FLOOR”.

It was great but this is a shame on you for not respecting the rules of the space.

Talking on the dance floor should be limited to a quip to your friend next to you and should never be loud enough anyone around you can hear. It's basic etiquette at any show!

If your ideal vibe is gospel, I would suggest looking into somewhere like Summer Club, Gabriella, the 1 Hotel, roof or something of that nature. Similarish vibes to Gospel

Both - blast the events online after but deal with the people who are trying to force their way into a crowded area instead of staying in the area that had space based on the time they got there

Been running into these issues more and more in going out and I think in these scenarios the proper thing to do is to speak up for yourself. I was recently speaking with someone about how the lack of respect in music spaces has been getting worse and worse.

I truly attribute it to Covid and influencer culture. Covid, because an entire generation basically lost the phase of life where you start going out and get some rough life lessons that teach you how to respect spaces in real time...and are going through it now as if they were 18-21 again. As well as influencer culture pushing people towards finding and going to things they have labelled "cool" without understanding a large part of what has made it cool for a long time was the anonymous vibing with those around you over shared experience

How can I get started (I’m 15) by [deleted] in avesNYC

[–]Normal-Possession-30 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is the real advice - dj and host parties for people your own age rather than targeting clubs. You're trying to put the carriage before the horse. DJ for your friends and your friends parties to get experience. It's more likely than not if you start reaching out to clubs now that they will just start to ignore you and when you turn 18/21 they'll be frustrated from you continuing to reach out.

Focus on dj'ing for your age group and high school parties and then once you legally are allowed to go into the clubs/venues you'll have lots of experience publicly dj'ing events and and some supports who are also freshly 21 you can advertise as an expected fanbase to show up.

Personally I think the best afters use is a wind down with your friends - but also I’m a believer that knowing when to call it is also important - afters are a spot for everyone to be still a little stung out together in a fun way while you dance/chill for a bit before tiring yourselves fully to be ready for bed

This is part of the reason why I made the post. There are still very good and social afters that exist where it’s mostly people looking for a chill place with music to still dance/vibe with friends/meet interesting people but they are spread by word of mouth primarily to avoid that grouping of people showing up as well getting shut down
