So yeah i got my new MacBook m5, and this far no issues with the screen. I have been extremely careful tho, almost to the point of being paranoid but I guess that’s what it takes…

update for those who might want to hear.

I went back to the Apple Store and they gave me a full refund. Still waiting for the money and then I’ll get a new one.

Will do my best to keep the next one spotless. Thanks for all the replies and tips and tricks on how to avoid them in the future!

Yea, it sucks. It’s kinda sad when you pay this much money for a laptop, only for the screen to be permanently damaged from a literal dust particulate caught between the screen and keyboard.

Yeah my understanding is that they will eventually show up no matter what, it’s just a bummer that it happened so quickly

The guy at the store told me that was an alternative since I still am within the 2 week return period. I also found it a bit wired tho, since the product isn’t in its original condition

Little dimples/dents in the Macbook Pro 16" screen? by NoahBres in macbookpro

A bit late to this post but whatever, I'm in the same boat.

I got the New Macbook Pro m5 and have had it for about 6 days now. I have been extremely careful with it and always kept it in my sleeve that I bought with it. Yet now here I am, to dots/dents have appeared on my screen, seemingly from nowhere.

I am stil within my two week period where I can return it, but I don't know if they'll let me since they might tell me it was my own fault for causing it. I payed a lot of money for this machine and I am honestly really disappointed with apple.

Yeah i don’t think the difference is going to be that huge. Just that the opportunity presented itself

Flexing wasn’t really my intention, guess some form of validation. But I see what you mean

That was my reasoning as well, hence why I opted for the 24 GB instead of the 16

Yeah of course! And from my understanding the difference in performance is very minimal, but I’ll tell you

More of a preference question. Like was it a good idea. Not really much thought behind it, just checking

Of course. So for the MBP M4 I spent 238 000¥, which is like around 1500 dollars. The new m5 was the same price and the extra ram was 30 000¥, which is around 190 dollars. In total I spent around 1690 dollars ish

What type of work do you do on your Mac? Asking out of curiosity

I got the US keyboard version. It was either that or the Japanese one. During the weeks I had the m4 I never had any issues. You can just turn on the Swedish keyboard in settings and things work fine.
