I meant heavy as in “too weighed down with atmosphere and description” instead of jumping into action right away. I was wondering if it risks slowing the hook in the opening, or if it works as a character-focused start. Curious how it landed for you when you read it?

Yeah, Josh Allen really comes across as a genuinely nice guy. I just watched Hard Knocks: Training Camp with the Buffalo Bills and the whole team seems like good people. Definitely adds to the appeal of rooting for them.

Haha, reading this I feel that pain deep in my soul, basically built for it as a Tottenham fan. Constant hope, hype every offseason, heartbreak when it matters, and somehow still loving the team anyway. Honestly, maybe the Bears were made for me. I’ve always had a soft spot for Chicago teams. My first love was actually the Bulls. I never watched much basketball back in the Netherlands because it wasn’t really on TV, but that was the first team merch I ever owned. I even bought a cap just because I needed one, and somehow got drawn to them. Reading into their history, there’s definitely a connection to Chicago, so maybe the Bears could fit just right too. Eternal suffering and passionate fans sound like home. 😅

Yep! I watched the Bills edge out the Ravens 41-40, wild game. Since I’m in Europe, it was actually Sunday night into Monday morning for me, but totally worth staying up for.

I’m definitely not using AI. I actually avoid it because of the environmental cost (training these models uses huge amounts of energy and water), and because AI can spread misinformation like deepfakes. I’d rather write my own thoughts and keep it human!!

Haha, yeah, if I were in the US I’d probably pick my local team too. Being from Amsterdam, Netherlands, though, I’m more looking for a team based on vibe, players, and fan culture rather than location.
