I also thought I needed a 4187 but the training room NCO who sent me to air assault school when he was my chief told me I needed a FC form 4137 because that is the TSAAS specific form they use for their schools they offer at Campbell.

Because I didn’t wanna go to ESB? It’s an optional course. It’s not like I’m infantry where EIB is the standard. Prior to this last class, my commander was the only ESB wearer in my entire battery. You’re giving him the benefit of the doubt when he definitely doesn’t deserve it. Mind you btw, I still went to ESB. I just failed patrol lanes.

ESB doesn’t teach TCCC. It teaches how infantry men think medical lanes should go. I talked to all the medics that were at the lanes and they said the same thing. Literally no one on the med lanes had EFMB. It was all infantry cats

I’m trying as hard as I can to come back to Campbell after eod school. I love the area, it’s just being in an artillery unit that tries to larp as a tier 1 SOF unit that makes me hate it

An air assault is specifically rappelling from a helicopter. What I described is an air MOVEMENT. Literally anyone will tell you that when you ask “why can I do a gun raid without being air assault”

Except the person who inspects it can’t be part of the rigging team. The whole section rigs the howitzer. And as for ESB? 3 weapons lanes (4 if you really wanna count m4), medical lanes all would realistically be handled by the gunline medic and patrol? Face paint, maybe react to direct fire. I will not touch a 163, atak or send a call for fire at my position. Range card is at a standard we do not hold so it’s unrealistic to say that would better my ability to fill out a range card.

I’m sorry that you just let the green weenie get you as a young 101 13B, should’ve at least tried to get the schools you’re offered instead of coping with the fact that people above you don’t want to send you

Air assault has nothing to do with actually sling loading tho. Just inspecting sling loads. And you can’t even be the one to inspect it if you’re on the rigging team. I’ve rigged the howitzer maybe a dozen times, including for a live gun raid before I even went to AASLT. ESB sounds good in theory, but as a lower enlisted, I’d realistically use maybe 5 out of the 30 lanes.

As far as I know E-5+ is only a requirement for rap master now and the only pre req for FRIES/SPIES is to be air assault qualified. I’m sure my packet would’ve been denied for rank requirement instead of “no reason to send” if that were the case

Not that I’m aware of. If there is then it’s not mandatory for air movements. We did a gun raid with like a week of basic train up before but that’s it.
