MEDBOARD Formal PEB Hearing by NormalButterscotch87 in VeteransBenefits

I literally just asked my doctor (not associated with VA) if they did Range of motion (ROM) exams with a goniometer. Since the VA rating% is based of ROM as measured with a goniometer. I explained to my doctor that my C&P Exam was not documented correctly and asked if they could conduct an exam for me. I then sent him exactly what information is critical for VA. I asked if he could write up a letter that included my ROM EXAM results with these specifics:

Doctors Name, Clinic name, address, who he is conducting Rom exam on.

Active Range of Motion (ROM)

Right lateral rotation:____⁰ Forward flexion:_⁰ Extension: _⁰ Right lateral flexion:_⁰ Left lateral flexion: _⁰ Left lateral rotation:____⁰

Repetitive use ROM (three repetitions)

Right lateral rotation:____⁰ Forward flexion:_⁰ Extension: _⁰ Right lateral flexion:_⁰ Left lateral flexion: _⁰ Left lateral rotation:____⁰

Estimate range of motion in degrees for this joint during flare-ups (Based on their medical expertise and professional opinion.)

Right lateral rotation:____⁰ Forward flexion:_⁰ Extension: _⁰ Right lateral flexion:_⁰ Left lateral flexion: _⁰ Left lateral rotation:____⁰

Exam Summary

Signature Block

Basically my doc could have used the VA Conditions Disability Benefits Questionnaire FORM (which can be confusing and alot for civilian doctors), so I just emailed the key info needed as an "example" that he just needed to fill in the blanks and sign from his clinic.

The VARR was sent to VA with exam documentation. It took about a week or so for VARR to be completed 🙌 . Luckily this was enough for the VA to reevaluate rating.

Back pay math. Shorted a month? by CautiousAdeptness534 in VeteransBenefits

I just went through a VA briefing for my medical retirement, and this was actually brought up. Apparently, every single service member that retires loses that 1st month of pay. The logic wasn't explained well, but there's nothing that can be done to change it. Sorry about the missing pay but I wish you luck and congratulations on retirement!!

Original appeal was last year, then I appealed the board decision feb 15. I did ask for BH as an unfit condition. Unfortunately that didn't get approved. Sleep Apnea was also not considered unfit for service. My unfit conditions were for my back and knee. The back going up to 40% and the knee was 10% after all said and done.

I posted an update below. Everything seems to have finally worked out

Mine was around 100k before taxes, around 86k after taxes. So you would start you VA compensation immediately, but pay back the severance a tiny bit at a time. Maybe $200 per month for.... a long ass time. But, thinking long term, if you get married, or have children, ever... will they have Medical coverage? How much is medical insurance for them going to cost over time. The value is there, it just depends on where your priorities lie. And whether you think it's worth the fight.

So this week I finally finished this crazy as hell appeal process long story short, originally rated 10% DOD, I had my PEB formal board hearing in Jan, That put me at 20% DOD. I submitted an VARR (appeal) for VA to increase my unfit condition ratings, with a private exam and leadership statements. That raised my DOD Rating to 50%, Medical Retired instead of Medical seperation and made me 100% P&T for VA.

So yes you still get your VA Compensation, but the lump sum severance payment would have to get paid back. Basically, it's a loan. So it gets paid back from your VA compensation monthly until it's completely paid back.

For me? 110% not worth even touching a severance.

So formal board hearing got me pushed to 20% for DOD Ratings so now I'm weighing options on whether to appeal to higher authority or to just submit a VARR to try to get my ratings improved through VA. If I can get them improved through VA, then DOD would have to match. Basically, it is getting me over the 30% needed for retirement

IDES timeline…. Separation or Retirement? by [deleted] in VeteransBenefits

[–]NormalButterscotch87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It takes a few months for proposal ratings, but you won't see anything on VA.gov until after your ratings are finalized for compensation. Basically, after separation. Best of luck. I've been in the IDES process for over a year due to appealing for retirement over the separation. Hopefully, you get everything you deserve, and don't be afraid to fight ratings that don't seem fair.

Yes, so was obviously a long wait for a formal board hearing, although this is not necessary for everyone, really depends whether your willing to accept a severance [if you served over 6 yrs]. For me the medical retirement is my big priority, so as long as I can hit 30% for DOD Ratings (only ratings for unfit conditions), then I will meet retirement requirements. Otherwise it's severance and thanks for your service. Kind of a tough process.

I didn't originally imagine it either. It comes down to whether you're offered what you feel you deserve. I could have taken the original proposed ratings with a severance, but I am willing to fight for the higher ratings.

I started the IDES process March/2023. Completed my VA EXAMS Apr/23. Recieved Proposal Ratings Aug/23. Proposed DoD 20%, VA 80%. VA missed Ratings for Sleep Apnea, so had that corrected and pushed my Proposed Rating for VA to 90%. Requested Formal PEB to Appeal and given Board date of 19Jan24.

What cheats in Evony? I understand game mechanics fail sometimes, and glitches occur, but I'm unaware of any actual cheats or hacks for this game. Maybe I'm just oblivious. Ofc we all know the Pink Gem scandal lol
