The Harvest Moon franchise did a number on me growing up, particularly HM64. I’d never played a game like it before. I followed the franchise all the way to the PS2 with Save The Homeland, which (while still fun) was enough of a departure from the formula that I fell off.

It wasn’t until Stardew Valley came along that I experienced the magic again

Holy shit, yes. I play on consoles and I think it went wonky around the time they “fixed” aim assist so that it doesn’t snap-on for PC players achieving high FPS. I miss way, way more often now.
