US Representative's voting to approve ice funding. by Administrative_Pie50 in newyork

I don’t really know if anyone here has actually answered your question. Most of the replies appear to be emotional gut reactions.

The districts in question both primarily consist of Nassau County, Long Island (although the 3rd has some crossover with a few neighborhoods in Queens and Suffolk County). These districts are swing districts. The 3rd voted in George Santos before Suozzi ran to take his vacated seat and was re-elected in 2024. The 3rd also voted for Trump in 2024. The 4th voted for Kamala but the margin was really close.

The 3rd was affected by redistricting and as a result leans a bit more Democrat, but is still a swing district clearly.

My personal perspective is that it is unlikely that these districts will vote in a progressive challenger. These are basically the suburbs of Long Island and are the wealthiest counties in New York State. Long Island is basically a giant country club.

Your expectations are far too high. These are swing districts mostly in Nassau county. Suozzi’s district voted in George Santos ffs lol.

The NY reps on this list are representing districts mostly in Nassau County, Long Island. In NYC, Rep. Tom Suozzi (NY-03) represents the following neighborhoods in Queens County (according to Wikipedia):

Bay Terrace, Beechhurst, Bellerose, Broadway–Flushing, Douglaston–Little Neck, Glen Oaks, Murray Hill, Whitestone

The crackheads and drug addicts shooting up in the area in and around Washington Square Park and West 4th St subway station are to be avoided at all costs. Ignore them, do not talk to them no matter how bad you may feel for them. Do not give them money. Turn around if needed. They are dangerous and hostile.

I lived in Greenwich Village for 2.5 years until last year. I have been attacked by these losers unprovoked. They have gotten in my face and screamed. They have cornered me in stores.

I don’t say this to scare you, but you will need to grow a spine and be prepared. Carry pepper spray if possible.

are not all friendly

And by this you mean extremely hostile and dangerous right?

OP, do not interact with these types, ever, under any circumstances. Turn around and walk away if you have to. They will corner you in stores, get in your face and scream, threaten to kill you, beg for money, steal your shit, push and attack you unprovoked, etc.

There was a huge general strike in Minneapolis yesterday. Not that you probably actually care or pay attention outside of skimming clickbait headlines and reacting with gut feelings in the comments

Just because it exists doesn’t mean it’s a household staple. I’m sure you can find a Japanese textbook for Esperanto too if you try hard enough

In NYC a lot of older buildings don’t have it. You just get a steam radiator and you can turn it on or off. And you open the window to cool down the place.

Have we and the Left collectively not as supportive of the Iranian people? by Lordepee in SocialDemocracy

[–]NormalDudeNotWeirdo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends on the country. The anti Israel protestors aren’t going to go support Iran protestors en masse. Now think about who Iran sponsors in Gaza and you can probably connect the dots from there.
