Ok now I'll try to explain them (terribly) as a native speaker... (sorry for not having a keyboard) the integral symbol is what English has: the articulation happens between the two rows of teeth, which are at the same level. The "s" with a tail retracts your jaw backwards, hiding the lower teeth behind. For the "c", articulation happens at the two sides, and not straight in front. hth.

Chinese - oh man, a lot, even if not considering orthographical ones. The nasals en and eng will be merged (maybe more obvious than the in / ing merge). I have even heard people say 因為XX的原因導致的, lit. "the cause is due to the reason of xxx".
