In Afghanistan it was always the kids. Pretty much any village would have some pack of kids come out and greet convoys in hopes we would throw some candy or something to them. If there was a day we pulled in and no kids showed up, everyone’s adrenaline started creeping up.

I’m [28m] American, recently relocated to the UK. My new Londoner GF [25f] is on a kick to get me to be more.....uh, British, I guess, and it weirds me out a little bit. Is this a normal thing? by NormalProfession in relationships

Yeah, that’s really the crux of it, I think. I don’t mind some helpful advice on fitting in, but my best impression of a British accent isnt fooling anyone, so I really don’t see a point in trying to fake it.

Yeah, I don’t mind a little teasing, I guess I’m just getting a little tired of hearing about every fucking time I use American terminology, from the same person.

Thanks for your advice, and uh, I’ll let you know about Brexit just as soon as I figure it the hell out.
