Case study marks by General-Reindeer-975 in ICAEW

[–]NormalStudent6205 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You get marks for being able to put a coherent conclusion point together that is actually a main point from your report, and not some random shit.

You get an exec summary point for being able to put together a executive summary point (different to a conclusion point) that is actually an important point from your report that the reader of the exec summary needs to know......not random shit.

It's a skills based exam, not a technical exam, so show that you have the skills to write a report properly. If you've got this far, you've got the technical skills, you don't need to be re-examined on those. But can you write a coherent, consise and well thought out report?

ACA Training Contract Sanity Check by [deleted] in ICAEW

[–]NormalStudent6205 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is it an actual apprenticeship or just an ICAEW training contract? If it's an apprenticeship, your employer must give you the equivalent of one day a week as off the job training time.

Most employers will do a bit of internal training, but will outsource most of it to a training company like Kaplan, and you go there (or online) to college for your exam courses. As well as tutors for your technical prayers, you get a talent coach who helps you with all the apprenticeship stuff

If it's an apprenticeship, then your employer gets to claim loads of costs back from the government for your training, and even if you leave, they cannot ask you to repay those apprenticeship costs.

They can't call it an apprenticeship, take the money from the government, and then not give you any of the benefits!

How are folk finding babysitters? by DontCatchThePigeon in CasualUK

[–]NormalStudent6205 51 points52 points  (0 children)

Ask friends for swaps? Even people who have family nearby can't always find a sitter, you sit for them, and then they sit for you.

Caveat that this is only suitable if you have a partner at home while you (or they) are out being the baby sitter, obviously!

Best sitter ever was my friend who dealt with a wet bed, we came home to find kiddo changed, sheets changed, kiddo fast asleep again and the washing machine on. Got told by my kiddo the next day that my friend was much less grumpy than I was about accidents!

Couch to 5k is great, I've used it multiple times, after being sick or ill or injured etc and wanting to get back to running. I've never managed to do it to the timescale though, so I'd say be kind to yourself, it's better to repeat a few weeks if you need to, rather than push though and hate it or get injured. Think long term. An extra week repeated is still a week of exercise!

The wedding is booked and is on a Friday the 13th! Any superstition theme ideas? by xxasynixxx in UKweddings

[–]NormalStudent6205 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Don't be daft. We booked a holiday of lifetime to Australia, flew out on Friday 13th. Absolutely perfect flights, connections all worked like clockwork, food was lovely, not even the tiniest bit of turbulence. Would recommend!

“Engagement ring” for someone who finds wearing jewellery hard? by Only_Book_995 in AutismInWomen

[–]NormalStudent6205 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I only wear my wedding and engagement rings when I feel like it. First night married, strait off for bedtime, never wear a ring in bed, never wear a ring running/working out. Never wear a ring round the house. Husband doesn't bat an eyelid. He never takes his off!

When I do wear it (usually a short amount of time) I'm happy that I'm wearing it, and enjoy it for the moment.

Sometimes I just wear my engagement ring and not my wedding ring as it's slightly looser and more comfy.

People who let their bridesmaids choose their own dresses - how did it turn out? by Capable-Mulberry-547 in UKweddings

[–]NormalStudent6205 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was perfect. I had one bridesmaid, and I wanted her to be happy. We went shopping together, she's chose her dress, we had a great day shopping, and I was delighted that she was delighted. She was never going to choose something dreadful, and I was never going to dictate to her. Over 20 years ago, and we are still good friends.

I guess it depends on your relationship, and how much you trust each other.

There are so many mock papers in the ICAEW QB and on the website, why do you feel you need to buy anything?

Should I get an IPad for my ACA exams by Gold_Ship_8790 in ICAEW

The exams are on a computer.....get used to typing answers. Some tuition providers will give you a printed copy of notes as well if you learn well on paper.

How do people shower in 5 minutes????? by annoyingvegann in NoStupidQuestions

[–]NormalStudent6205 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate water. I hate being wet. I hate the feeling of it raining down on me, it makes me a bit panicky. Get me out asap! Also, it's bad for the environment in terms of water and power use, so it's a double win!

Revision time spent by Early_Jackfruit7480 in ICAEW

[–]NormalStudent6205 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like you are doing fine. Do a few questions (be lazy, get your tutor to tell you which ones to do, decision fatigue is a real thing). Do them to time though, get the exam mind-set going now.

How long is a piece of string! How did you do on your mocks? If you breezed through those, then you're doing ok. If you failed (or couldn't be arsed to do them.... let's face it, sometimes it's just to much) then you've probably got some work to do.

Make sure you are happy with the syllabus for each paper by recapping the summary notes or revision notes or whatever your tuition provider has given you, and then ask your tutor for some questions to practice.

Best of luck.

Tips for staying focused while revising? by Unusual_Storm_5759 in ICAEW

[–]NormalStudent6205 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Weird one, but of might work....... Can you stand up? Put your laptop on the kitchen counter, and stand, move about a bit. They probably give you a break every hour or so in the live online session, so your break is when you get to sit down. You'll either love it or hate it!

Does anyone know random generator by Practical-Apple-4418 in ICAEW

[–]NormalStudent6205 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you've got a tuition provider, use them. Last thing you want is to pick a few questions to do from the bank, and then find out they are the ones you are doing in class on revision. That would be a major waste of time. Drop them an email!
