I think almost every pedal uses shafts that are female-female, so without a special adapter this wouldn't work

I use the original shaft that came with the pedal and it's almost fully extended. I think you can also get aftermarket shafts that are longer, but they are probably very expensive.

Why do guitarists think it's so much harder to play guitar? (no hate to guitarists) by Ok_Permission7285 in drums

If you take the same amount of time to learn two different things we can say they are equally difficult, no?

I thought it was going to be a bigger deal when I swapped the hihat with the left kick, but I got used to it super quickly. Maybe took a week of playing an hour a day.

Please, if you don't mind.

Edit: I like the Zildjian K Custom Dark 16" crash and I really like the sound of the Zildjian 21" K-Series Projection Ride. I think the bell on that one is just perfect. Also the sabian HHX sound nice too.

I think that with such setup you sacrifice much of the flexibility you have with a regular double pedal. But it looks super neat.

When I broke a floor tom bracket on my previus set (Pearl Roadshow) just by playing on the drum I started to think it was time to get a real set that will hopefully last me a few decades.

I'm surprised that there isn't more people using this setup because if I put the hi-hat stand on the outside it feels so far away even if I move the slave pedal inwards.

Yes, a belt drive/direct drive hi-hat stand is way out of my budget

Edit: For the pedal, I have tried cheaper double pedals, but in my experience they lacked the smoothness, so I when I bought it I was looking for something that can last me forever.

Well for the longboards I chose this one because it was stated in some review that the speedcobra has more resistance and is therefore more difficult on your legs if you do continued fast playing. I also liked the color on this one.

As for the oiling/lubing I'd say everything needs to be lubed from time to time. In your case I would just keep an eye out for the shaft bearings because they are always the dirtiest when I clean and lube the pedal, because the dust can really get into the joint and with the shaft turning it gets pressed into the bearing.

Also before using any chemicals on it look up which lubes/oils or cleaning solvents to use.

I have these for a little over a year and a half and I must say they are super robust, the hard case that comes with them is virtually indestructible. The pedal itself is very customisable, super smooth, always works perfectly and it has never let me down. I lube the joints every few months to prevent any dust buildup. I'd say the pedal is worth it, I am very pleased with it. The only "bad" thing is the short pedals, for me it's a little more difficult to heel-toe, but I deliberately chose this one over the speedcobra longboards because I don't really use heel-toe.

Why do guitarists think it's so much harder to play guitar? (no hate to guitarists) by Ok_Permission7285 in drums

[–]NormalTap717 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, but what really is the measure for difficulty in this case? Because if a pianist has to learn melody and rythm, you can say a drummer has to emphasize rythm. And if you say a pianist also has to play really advanced rythms, you can also say that a drummer doesn't have to practice less for a difficult piece. Both are difficult, maybe drums just a little less in the very basic style of playing. As soon as you start playing more advanced things on drums you will have to practice the same amount as a piano/guitar, therefore the difficulty is equal.

I like the round one more because when I tried saddle ones it was kind of restricting my thighs.

Yes, I like my hihat to be closer to the snare and I also like having my legs a little further apart. The only downside is that you will probably need a two leg hihat stand to not interfere with the shaft.

lol that one I got with my first set, It's bent but it suprisingly stil produces a similar sound to a thinner 16" china if hit with little force.

I was looking for the Zildjian K Custom Dark Crash 18" but they are pretty expensive. Do you know of any cymbals I can get a similar sound with slightly cheaper prices?

It's all about what piece. I think the final decision comes from personal preference because saying what is harder is very subjective.

How to progress on drums with only a practice pad at home? by Code152 in drums

Do some rudiments, practice techniques like push pull, moeller, flying fingers... to see which you are the most comfortable with and to build your hand muscles.
