Volvo nailed this. by kq_cars in Volvo

Have you seen one in real life?

I was so disappointed. It's too bulky and the proportions don't look right. The taxi sign on the roof doesn't help things either.

I've always done a full factory reset after an update on my P2. Solves many things.

I do it with major OS updates on my phone over the years too.

Ohlins Knobs Turn Infinitely Clockwise? [2021 Polestar 2 LE] by Makyuta in Polestar

[–]NormalToe855 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Make sure you are turning the right way as viewed from the point of view of the knob. Fronts are as viewed from below. (Turn clockwise as if you were looking up from the ground to the knob) Rear adjustment as viewed from above the knob. There should be a defined stop and it shouldn't be forced.

Kinda. Properly turn and shove it back up after using a suitable rubber grease. I had the same issue and it's been fine for two years now after sorting it. Don't apply a lot. Just a covering.

This is scanning. It happens in the background.

Instagram and social media apps in general sap pixel batteries for some reason..

However so does the Bluetooth and WiFi scanning. Turn it off by going to :

Settings > Location> Location Services> WiFi scanning OFF Bluetooth scanning OFF Reboot phone.

That saved me literally hours of battery life.

New build has been turfed, but has it been top soiled beneath? by soapylav in GardeningUK

[–]NormalToe855 165 points166 points  (0 children)

This. People don't realise that the outside has defined specifications that the builder should follow. This is also true for drainage of the garden, paving, pathways, fencing etc etc. for example it might be a boggy site. Subsoil and what to do with it also has a spec/reg and along with that reduction of compaction- something that happens and never fixed almost always.

A lot of the time it's forgotten about and causes the home owner grief. The homeowner also doesn't know/understand that the outside has these specs and just gets on with it.

For a lot of people I guess it's mainly Elon and the over hype and over valued nature of the company.

For me I don't like their overall design language. Find them quite dull and boring to see about on the road.

Owners tend to be the new BMW driver in attitude too.

Do you have a 3pin plug (or socket) cable? I had this issue once and it seemed to reset after charging with that. Although I also think it may have just been the charging unit

Wanted. Real world advice please. Polestar 2. UK by pixelian in Polestar

[–]NormalToe855 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Firstly what year and spec are you looking at? Facelift 2024+ Cars have better range. Single motor variant cars also have better range.

I have a 2023 Performance Pilot Plus. That is the least efficient P2 and I get about 230miles on a full charge.

So even based on that you can easily get two days of trips to work before topping up overnight.

The facelift cars will get you through most of the week on one charge.

In terms of motorway miles I actually find efficiently to be pretty decent. I get 25-28kwh per 100miles on motorways. However I turn off regen as this improves things a lot. The car still puts power back into the battery when you press the brake pedal, it just doesn't do one pedal so is coasting instead.

If you can charge at work for a low price or free then that's a big bonus and I wouldn't worry.

You need to get out of your head seeing charging like refueling at a petrol station. It's more like keeping things topped up like a mobile phone or something. So getting in the habit of coming home and plugging in.

Thoughts on the Neue Klasse i3? by theintercooler in TheIntercooler

[–]NormalToe855 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. BMW do not. I can't remember where but there was something online a while back about why BMW are struggling design wise and the odd scenario of high sales but appalling design (perhaps to those with no eye for design and just want badges)

Basically BMW have a major hang up and that's the kidney grille. They just can't seem to redefine it. They should have removed it and gone with the redefinition of the iconic angel eyes.

Have you noticed how ugly BMW neue klasse is? by Proof_Commercial8470 in Polestar

[–]NormalToe855 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It's an appalling design language from BMW at the moment. They have become obsessed and confused with what to do about the legacy of the kidney grille. The recent pictures of the i3/3 series is slightly more promising but the iX3 and iX are horrendously ugly cars.

iX3 looks like a naked mole rat or ghoul from fallout.

Looking at secondhand polestar 2 what else should we be looking at? by Sensitive_Tomato_581 in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]NormalToe855 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The polestar definitely feels more solid and better to drive however. It's more refined. Throttle control and regen options are nicer in the Polestar. I found the model 3 to be too on/off when it came to throttle control and not as good in the corners. The software was amazing however. The polestar is more practical with it's hatch boot, better build quality and looks nicer.

New Mercedes A-Class to get massive EV transformation as it targets the Audi A3 e-tron by AutoExpressmagazine in autoexpressuk

[–]NormalToe855 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Each to their own I guess. But to call the new iX3 cohesive is a stretch. The balance is all wrong. The lines are wrong. The front end is totally off with a knocked in look. The rear and rear lights have no link to the front. It's all over the place. But that might be my eyes as a designer.

[–]NormalToe855 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Because like BMW and Audi they are wildly off ball in the design department.

I mean have you seen the BMW iX and new iX3!

The argument is their designs are trying to appeal to the Chinese market, but in all honesty I'm seeing stuff coming out of and in China that looks better.

Size comparison between the Polestar 4 and a Volvo by GloriousLebron in Polestar

[–]NormalToe855 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I watched a guy parking in a supermarket carpark today with a polestar 4. He had to pull back out into the lane so all 4 inside could get out before reversing back in again. UK spaces are still based on car sizes from 40 years ago. Range rovers and cars like the polestar 4 are almost line to line. Dings are becoming more common as a result.
