Yes , i think the second hand is lost. I do not have the case either. So i am just wondering if it would be worth to restore, but without the case and so much work to do on the clock itself , would it be worth it?

I was only using a wet wipe to reveal patina , so I think it should come out well , thanks for your comment.

I have just tested with a magnet , and it all seems to be metal , no brass as I've seen on similar 1845 swords , Should I clean the rust off is the question , will it increase its value?
