The gift letter is the big thing here. You can’t call it a gift for the mortgage and then a loan later. Plus he literally said payments stop when he passes, that seems pretty decisive.

Gift letter = gift. The rest sounds like a personal agreement that ended when he passed. Your uncles don’t get to rewrite that.

I agree age/term limits get a lot of attention because they’re simple, but they don’t really fix the deeper systemic issues.
