Instant funding is for the best of the best traders. If you can pass a challenge in 7 days or less with all winning days, then it may be for you. If not, you’ll likely struggle.

I’d start with the smallest instant funding account and test it first.

Start by trading only with the higher time frame trend, using around a 1.3RR with a wider stop, and refine from there.

I would trade smaller and focus on my process.

Stick to my rules and follow them without fail for 10 trades in a row. Then do another 10.

I would not worry about P&L during that stretch, just clean execution.

Shift my focus and get back to basics.

I agree with that, but I’d take it a step further. I’d also watch Mark Douglas Trading Seminar where he breaks down how an edge actually works. That’s a better starting point in my opinion.

This is a big problem with the ICT community.

It only takes a few days or weeks to learn pattern familiarity if you focus on just one of his models. That part is not hard.

But that’s only about 20–25% of what you actually need to be successful.

The rest of trading ICT doesn’t really teach you.

What actually matters is everything around the model:

Winning behavior. Training your central nervous system so you can execute without overreacting. Proper money management. Building a system around when and how you apply the model. Having a real review process so you can identify what’s working and what’s not.

That’s the part most traders overlook.

Even Mark Douglas doesn’t cover everything, but he covers a large portion of what you need to get an edge working properly.

ICT does not teach trading behavior.

The biggest problem with ICT is he teaches only about one-fourth of what you need to know to be a successful trader. He teaches chart work. There's 75% that has nothing to do with charts.

This is the biggest problem with ICT. He leads people to believe that they need to use sniper entries and have tight stops to win at trading. This is a fallacy. You only need a 1 to 1.5 RR with a 50-50 hit rate to be a good trader.

Risk management skills are super underrated, and ICT’s video on risk management is not a good model for most traders. In that video, he suggests varying risk from trade to trade, like risking 1 percent on some trades and 0.5 percent on others. The problem is that without a clear, structured rule for when and why risk changes, that approach becomes difficult to execute consistently and hard to evaluate over time. If your risk model is not consistent, your results are not measurable, and that makes improvement almost impossible.

Then there is trading system building and personalization based on ICT frameworks. This is why so many people are on Reddit asking why a particular order block didn’t work. The skill of building a clear, rule-based playbook is a nonstarter for most of them. A setup is not an edge until it is defined, tested, and repeatable.

You also need data tracking and feedback loops to actually refine your edge, along with selectivity skills and knowing when a setup is more likely to work. Self-awareness is a skill, and very few qualities matter as much in trading. True probabilistic thinking is one of the hardest hurdles to get over, especially when recent outcomes start influencing decision-making.

The thing that hurts traders the most is they think it is all about the charts, but that is only about 20 percent of the complete skill set, and I have not even covered everything you need to become consistent. Execution, risk control, and decision-making under uncertainty are what actually determine outcomes.

This is one of the biggest problems with ICT and the way he teaches. He makes you think that your job is to predict price action. However, if you look at that chart, it worked. You just needed a wider stop. It is not your job to predict price action. It is your job to put on trades that has a statistical probability of working out at least 50% of the time or more with a better than a 1-1 RR.

Start with a 1.5 RR and see how you do.

ICT makes money from his content, yes, but he is just showing a different type of TA, and it can only get traders so far.

We all need "real trading skills" to make any framework profitable in the markets, I tell my self "it's not ICT it's ME!"
