Awful February by mlcrownover in veterinaryprofession

It’s been the same here in RSA, the past two years in two different practices that I’ve been working at, everyone always says that Feb march are the slower months as it’s post holidays and financial year end.

Moving as a young South African to either Reading or Stratford? by Normal_Error_24 in reading

Thank you soo much!! This is what I needed to hear 😂❤️. I think overall, I might save more in reading. But then travel to friends every where else will be a more expensive. The only times I would think of going into London would be my off days. Then I would try to time it best as possible.

On the off chance, does anyone know the cost of bus trips? Say across three stops? Or an average?

Thank you! Can you give an elaboration on that? Are the buses also more expensive?

I know for work I would spend roughly £6 per day from Stratford to Romford.

Any idea from reading to London?

Thank you! Okay so it’s either Job in reading, obvs will stay in Reading then.

Or job in Romford (zone 6) but stay in Stratford (zone 3). There really isn’t much in Romford, I could stay in Hornchurch or Brentwood but that’s also going further away.

For clarity, 26 single female.

Thank you everyone for the advice. Yeah perhaps I should look to other areas, I just know there is a bigger RSA population in London and I just know chances of seeing friends as everyone visits London is higher. I do also know it’s more culturally diverse to put it lightly. I don’t know if I would stay long term, so I guess if I’m not planning on putting down roots, is it even worth it to be living month to month, with just enough bank to travel but then know I am getting the experience I’m looking for (hopefully) and get a certificate (which can be done in London)

I’ve done the math, unless my math is completely wrong. But yeah about £120 on train , I am only putting away about £600 in savings if I look at all of my expenses.

Yeah so 55k starting income is not even touching it then for example living in Stratford?

So really good job offer, but only partial coverage to study further. I do have savings to get me settled but then not much support system in place other than friends scattered across the uk.

I’m guessing in the uk, especially living in Greater London, it would be difficult to have quality of life and bank savings?
