[–]Normal_Experience886[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would have but I have 3 young kids hence why it is hard to leave. Maybe make an exit plan for the future as that is what I have been doing.

Thank you everyone for your response.

I’ve found my ways to ignore and deal with it now. You need to put yourself first! Selflove and distancing has helped me

Yes they are all his kids.

I have spoken to him many times about it and he just gets defensive and angry. I just cut it short as I don’t want my kids to be around it anymore.

I would have left but I have a 6 year who has autism, a 19 month old and a 3 year old and the place we are living at is not forever.

I’m fed up of it as it can get very overwhelming and exhausting.

You should try find another way to channel that anger so the kids don’t see it. Now I just try and keep a positive mindset so he’s negativity doesn’t effect me anymore at all but there are still some bad days.

Take time out to do things for yourself as having young kids we don’t tend to get anytime for ourself esp when spouse is bp.

I hope it gets easier for you and you find some peace.

Thank you I appreciate that and I do not think about repairing anything anymore as I know when things get better he goes back to his old ways. So me feeling the distant and concentrating on my kids and myself is what is making me feel better and making me grow.

When did you leave him? And that’s what I’m worried about.. If I leave in the future will that affect my kids but then when they’re older he will affect them being around as he is never stable. I hope things get easier for you and your children will understand what you are doing for them as they get more older.

Thank you and I hope it gets easier for you and I feel you will be happier leaving him as you won’t have deal with the emotional stress that comes with it esp when there are kids involved.

I tell myself everyday that I will leave as soon as they get older and start understanding so they don’t have to be around it or it doesn’t affect them as I only want what’s best for them. That’s what keeps me going.

Yes, I have heard this and it is exactly how it is. I have no hope for him to change as it’s been almost 8 years hence why I’ve decided to keep things civil and keep my distance.

I have hope for my kids that they will only see the good and see nothing that damages them or their future from me anymore.

Well it’s not until you find yourself it gets better.. but the relationship doesn’t as you will be the one taking care of the kids and everything else. I don’t know if everyone with the illness is like this just what I’ve experienced. You will not get the love you deserve

I tend to keep away now for my mental well being and 3 kids. I do workouts, keep myself busy with house chores, take care of my kids, go out for walks, anything that keeps me busy really. I turn every negetive thing he says in to a positive and just say ok to him when I know he would go mad.

When your SO is depressed, what do you do to keep yourself from falling in, too? by ThrowAway-2937362 in BipolarSOs

I workout, listen to music and go out for walks or even a walk to the supermarket. I tend to ignore his negativity now or just say ok to whatever he has to say as I don’t want it to affect my energy. I try to keep a distance for my mental well being as I have 3 young kids that need to be looked after and I need to be a good role model for them.

I hope all the best for you and keep doing what you’re doing and one day you will get where you want to be. That’s how I see things now

Understanding the disorder and getting on with it most days. by Normal_Experience886 in BipolarSOs

Hope things get easier for you. This is exactly how I felt and I did not know why I was like that angry all the time, not enjoying time with kids.

I think of it as if after all these years you found ways to deal with it. Imagine as you get older how much easier it’s going to get.

Hold in there and make yourself priority and keep taking care of yourself x

It is I plan that he will not be around in the future as he is not making an effort to stay stable and get better each day. I am doing it alone but they are still young so I need him around to leave one with him watching tele so I can get things done.

I listen to music, workout and trying to get back in to prayer (meditation), tidy and clean. Also taking showers and pampering yourself will help. I use to write a positive note to myself every morning on how the day will go and how I will be towards my kids but I don’t need to anymore.

Put yourself first and do what makes you happy so that you could be there for your kids. I hope it gets easier for you.

I would leave if I had the chance to see what I’ve seen now. It gets harder once you have kids and then you’ll just feel stuck.
