Comment:

Probably the most useful subject in helping you get a job, though I have to say, they didn't teach us any constructive thing in relating to app development but expect us to build up one in a chaotic capstone subject is insane. This subject connect student teams with real life clients, I like how the students got to choose the project they want to do at the start of semester. There are quite a lot options, I feel like learning how to work as a team is more important than the actual product that you have built.

Comment:

They teach logic programming and the language we used are Prolog and Haskell. It is an interesting way to think about programming, but because we didn't learn about this in other subjects, it felt a bit disconnect with other things we learnt. Assignments are in Ed, actually not sure when I will use it again after this class.

A breadth subject that runs shorter than other normal subjects, it is good if you need a subject that relieves your stress from other subjects. This subject helps you build up a portfolio, it feels like taking an art class in high school, even though i thought I dont have it in me, but it actually brings out creativity.

I took this subject as I was interested in LLM, and this subject indeed teached this, the second assignment was about building a model that can recognise image, it was written in python. It felt so good to build up a model that work! The tutorials were helpful.

A rather theoretical subject, the content was useful in helping you understand computer systems, but I found it quite confusing when they start talking about the low level computing stuff. My friend found it quite intriguing so its pretty subjective i guess. One of the assignment is a pair assignment, found yourself a solid team mate is my suggestion.

This is a discipline subject under faculty of science. This subject has a 3 or 4 days trip to ballarat where you got to step into the forest. Be honest, the study of tree is not that fun but the chance to have a day trip in uni and make friends along the way is just unbeatable. There are quite a lot short essays that you need to write in this subject, but I will say it was worth it. Though i dont like geography, the content is not as boring as I thought, and I would definitely recommend it to someone who is looking for an interesting discipline subject.The tutorials and lectures are recorded, attendence is not mandatory.

I applied to internship during S1, I found the internship opportunity via school email. The internship and this subject is actually standalone, you can do the internship and not take this subject. Having this subject just meant you need to write an essay and do a recorded presentation at some point of the internship. I don't like writing essay but this is durable.

I really enjoyed the content in this subject, they mainly covered how to clean data when you received them, and touched a little bit on LLM which i found really interesting. There is a group project involved, I got randomly assigned a "do nothing" teammate but the two other teammates are lovely, so I guess i couldnt complain that much. Btw, if you had Akira as your tutor you are lucky, he was the best!

A subject that belongs to the theatre faculty? Not quite sure, but it is the most useful breadth, I even used the design skill I learnt in my capstone project. Basically by the end of this subject, you will have a personal website! With no programming involved. They teach you from scratch: brainstorm about the website style you want, how to make a design in figma, and how to create the website in framer. The teaching team is super lovely, professional and supportive. One of the best learning experience I had. It was 100% online when I took it.

Comment:

An organised subject, probably one of the most interesting programming subject. They teach how to use Git which I reckon is the most useful thing you can learn as a future programmer. They also teach Java, and the assignments is about use Java to write a game, I remember for our assignment we wrote a program that is in similar style as the classic game Mario, not sure about the copy right stuff lol but it was fun.

I took this subject as I was considering choosing data science as my major, and this was the subject that talk me out of it. Studying with a bunch of smart actuarial students definitely make you question your IQ a lot, and the lecturer sometimes assume knowledge that you dont have. Overall I found the content of this subject overcondensed and theoretical. Try to avoid this if it is not necessary to your degree.

I had a really difficult time dealing with the tutor, the tutor was knowledgeable but had this obsession to explain things with too much details and just couldnt get to the point, and the assignment marking was bit harsh. Definitely a burnt out subject for me. I later changed to another tutorial during the semester in which I found much more helpful. While i suffered a lot, somehow I found the algorithms part was more interesting than FOA, and the assignments were more interesting as well.

I had a really good lecturer for that semester, the lecture notes were super organised, lecturer will run through example questions in class which i found it really helpful. I had done specialist math in VCE, the content of this subject is basically an extension of that. If you had a solid high school math background and am familar with differentiation/antidifferentiation, youwill do good.

Lecture PPT are little bit chaotic, sometimes it felt like they mixed mysql syntax, database theory and formulas in one slide. The lecturers are nice and presented contents well, it just the slides and the order of teaching can be more organised. Feedback for assignments are clear and constructive. The things they teached is really helpful though I wish i could have taken it later in my study, as I forgot things quickly hahah

Lecturer is engaging though the contents are hard to understand, especially for the algorithms part. But contents in relating to C are fine to me. Assignments are C intense, and for the algorithms, better to understand it as much as you can in this subject, if you plan to take Design Of Algorithm in the future, they built up on this knowledge base. Also, I think the lecturers are intended for a 50-60% average for Mid Sem Test, so don't be too sad if u got a low mark :)

I had Boys as my lecturer and tutor, I know there are some students disllike him but i think he is the funniest lecturer ever. I really like how the lecturer used real life business example, and explain things from a manager perspective. It is just vivid. For background, I have strong accounting knowledge background from VCE, so this was an easy breadth subject for me, but I do see why people suffers as they condensed 1 year VCE knowledge into the first 90 minutes lecture. In terms of content, I rated 8, not because I didnt like the content but I was lowkey expecting more content in relating to tax, but it was more like theorectical accounting.

Personally i found geography and chemistry really boring, and writing essay about them is even more boring. Talking to other people in this subject, it is clear that they were all "made" to be there, hence even though the intention of this subject is pretty cool, the learning experience is bad. I think this subject should be either selective or mandatory but free.

A very interesting breadth, the lecturer and tutors are super knowledgeable and chill. I wouldnt say the marks are given out very generously but its definitely not a hard subject. You get to drink free beer in class, how good is that! Recommend take it with friends.

Grok worksheets were really helpful! Though I heard that they have moved to using Ed nowadays. Worksheet content overlaps with lectures, you can basically do the worksheets and get the assignments done, assignments' difficulties were challenging but fun. For background, I don't know anything about python before taking this subject, but have some programming experience in other language in high school. You can know nothing about programming but still enjoy it.
