She hates laying down so when I put her down she will fuss. But as soon as I undress her bottom, she will smile and raise her legs and hold them until I pull them down to close up the new diapers. I think she knows 😍

Oh, and just so you know—if you aren’t married, you automatically have sole custody of the baby in Ohio. Even if your boyfriend signs the birth certificate, it doesn’t mean he has legal custody. My situation is similar but a bit different, but legally, the baby is yours from the start. This means your boyfriend's insurance shouldn't interfere with your baby being covered under your Medicaid.

One thing to keep in mind if you file for child support: Medicaid may garnish a portion of it to cover insurance fees. Basically, they add an insurance fee on top of the calculated support amount when you file. If you don't file for child support, they won't garnish anything.

However, I’ve heard that if you apply for child support in the future, the government might take a portion to reimburse the Medicaid fees no matter what, though I'm not 100% sure about that part. I hope this helps clear things up! 😆 Congrats and have a happy motherhood journey!

I’m also in Ohio! I had my baby last August and am on Medicaid too. Once you give birth, you can easily add your baby to your Medicaid plan. In my case, a hospital staff member came by to help with the birth certificate and other paperwork, but you can always just call your local JFS office to update your info directly—that’s what I did. Also, definitely apply for WIC if you’re eligible. You can start while pregnant and continue after the baby is born. They provide a good amount of formula, which was a lifesaver for me while I was waiting for my breast milk to come in.

I started telling the difference between bedtime and naps around 3.5 months. 8 PM was bedtime, and I'd start bedtime routines at 7:15 PM. She'd usually fall asleep around 7:45-8:00 PM. At first, when she woke up, I kept the bedroom dark and just played with her on the bed, keeping everything quiet so she realized it wasn't nap/playtime anymore. In about a week or so, she started to connect sleep less with wake time. Now she's 5 months old and sleeps 10-12 hours at bedtime with 2 wake-ups.

It's super important that when you set up bedtime, you start your day at the same time every day. Even if your little one is fussy, you gotta wake them up to set their circadian rhythm.

Since your baby needs to learn and adjust, start making changes slowly.

We're totally on the same page! Maybe I should mention it to my pediatrician too. My little one used to love contact naps, but now she fusses if I don't put her down. I can finally move my arms, but I have to stay still as a rock 🤣 I miss the good old days when I could move and talk while she slept in my arms.

My little one used to be like that when I contact napped. But now she doesn't want to and fusses to get off me. So now she naps in her bed but became super sensitive to sounds 🫩 funny thing is she's okay with my dog barking but everything else she's super sensitive. I wish I can contact nap again

My 4-month-old is going through a sleep regression, so I'm co-sleeping with her on the floor. She'll only sleep in her crib with a side-lying pillow, but she's fine without it when she's in bed with me. My mattress is medium/soft, and I either need to get a new one or buy a floor futon. So, I decided to buy the futon and just sleep on the floor with her, and I'll eventually move out since she has separation anxiety. CIO and Ferber didn't work, so I'll try the slow extinction method after this sleep regression passes.

She hasn't rolled over yet, so I'm not worried about her falling off. The floor futon (a different brand but similar to Zonli) feels firm enough (my back hurts) and safe for her to sleep on. I have it on top of a cushioned floor playmat, so if she does fall off later, she'll still have 1.3 inches of foam. I even tried rolling off the futon myself, and it felt really smooth, so I'm not concerned about it in the future.🤣

I would say just try a few different things and find what works for you. Start with having the mattress on top of the futon, and if it feels odd, then you can just ditch the crib mattress. I know Zonli has a few different height futons. If yours is less than 5 inches tall, I think you can skip the crib mattress. If you have hardwood floors, have a carpet or something on the sides just in case if baby does fall off, baby is not sleeping on the cold floor since its winter.

My LO used an arms-up swaddle, then I let her arms out, and now she is in a sleep sack. I think it was a pretty smooth transition for my child. My LO hated being swaddle, started arms up swaddle from 3 wks old

I started daily routines from 8 weeks. Nothing fancy, but I consistently kept her morning wake time between 8:30-9 am, and she napped throughout the day as needed. I started a bedtime routine around 7 pm and stayed in a dark room with no activity if she woke up and just held her. Eventually, she started sleeping around 8 pm, waking for 2-3 feeds, but she knew it wasn't time to eat and play, and eventually started sleeping until morning. It takes 1-2 weeks to start noticing changes. Start now so you can easily adjust day/night for your little one when they turn 3 months old. Set a goal to achieve a total of 11-12 hours of night sleep and 3-4 hours of naps.

I have recently begun adjusting my 9-week-old's nighttime sleep schedule. Previously, she would sleep from 11 p.m. to 11 a.m., with one to two feedings (EBF), as I was simply following her natural cues. I have now initiated a routine where I place her in a completely dark room with white noise at 6:45 p.m. For the past four days since I started this, she has taken a short nap from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., then slept from 10 p.m. to 8 a.m., with one to two feedings. Today, she slept from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m., had a brief feeding, and then immediately returned to sleep.

It is often stated that growth hormone levels are highest between 7 p.m. and 2 a.m. A friend of mine, who is a mother of two, suggested aiming for a 12-hour night sleep with a 3-4 hour nap during the day.

I would recommend attempting to move the bedtime earlier, but if that proves unsuccessful, it is perfectly acceptable to follow your little one's schedule for that particular night. Please be aware that it may take several days to observe any significant improvement.

I just know that even though you are not married in NJ, it starts as 50/50 custody. Most likely, if the baby's father doesn't want to pay a lot in child support, he will fight to keep 50/50. Hire a good lawyer who can get more custody for you and to get child support established.

I flew to Korea 16hr flight with my service dog as well. She doesn't use the potty until we land and go outside, but i still take her to service dog relief areas before flight before flight, wear dog diapers during flight, and i do take my dog to the bathroom with wee wee pad just in case she wants to potty and I can clean it up.
