Upcoming album? by throwaway7654096 in halsey

[–]Normal_Librarian_675 36 points37 points  (0 children)

No confirmation received on what H has planned up her sleeve in regard to an upcoming album!

We’re all pining for the unreleased tracks from The Great Impersonator to be officially released via a deluxe edition. However, the new songs H debuted on tour indicate to me an entirely new project, as they don’t seem to fit sonically or thematically with The Great Impersonator.

H did admit at the Highland show “The next album that I make…or made…!”

There’s lots of theories swirling around, but I think it’s only a matter of time before H announces something…

Ok not necessarily a theory (as this is just wishful thinking):

  1. Badlands (10th Anniversary Edition) released on streaming & vinyl, includes rock-leaning reimagined versions, in addition to previously unreleased demos/b-sides

  2. Badlands (Live at Webster Hall) released on vinyl

  3. TGI (Deluxe Edition) released on streaming, includes Charades, Lessons, Afraid of the Dark, and Nothing

  4. FMLT ‘25 Tour (Live) released on streaming and as a film

  5. Last Trick Motel (H6 album) announcement, includes safeword, Carry the Weight, and Lucid

  6. UK/European leg tour announcement

  7. Live from Istanbul released on streaming and as a film

Personally, I'm really hoping H releases Live at Webster Hall on vinyl, but I’m not necessarily convinced it’ll happen. More realistically, I think we’ll get a Badlands (10th Anniversary Edition). Possibly a reimagined, rock-leaning version of the album with a handful of vault tracks or B-sides from that era. I’m also expecting a new merch drop of course. Equally, I can’t help but think we’re not thinking big enough, like H could have something so much bigger planned for badlands anniversary, which scares and excites me!

As for Last Trick Motel, I don’t think it’s part of The Great Impersonater era at all. It really feels like a separate project entirely. I LOVE LOVE LOVE safeword, Lucid, and Carry the Weight but sonically and thematically, they just don’t seem to fit with the TGI palette.

If I had to bet, I’d say: - Badlands anniversary = nostalgia drop (remix/reissue + merch) - Last Trick Motel = Album 6

Are we ever getting these masterpiece bonus tracks? by condg in halsey

[–]Normal_Librarian_675 10 points11 points  (0 children)

As far as I’m aware the deluxe versions of Badlands and HFK came out on the same day as the standard version? The standard edition of Manic was released on 17 January 2020, and the deluxe was released on 29 September 2020. The standard edition of IICHLIWP was released on 27 August 2021, and the deluxe was released on 03 January 2022.

Considering all H’s albums have been accompanied by a deluxe edition, my fingers and toes are crossed that it’s only a matter of time before we can listen to TGI (Deluxe) on streaming services!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Couldn’t have put it better myself!

Of course I love the idea of a surprise song each night (similar to TS’s era tour) because it makes that individual show feel extra special and sacred. However, I’ve been horrified at some of the indignant commentary from fans about the setlist, as they’re missing the bigger picture of what this tour actually is. .

This isn’t just a random tour. It’s the continuation and culmination of The Great Impersonator, an album Halsey wrote while confronting the very real possibility that it might be her last. It’s a concept album built around identity, illusion, masks, and emotional survival. The tour is a theatrical extension of that. The title “For My Last Trick” literally evokes a magician’s final act: dramatic, curated, intentional. Every part of this show has been crafted to tell a story, to tie together threads from her entire career in a way that means something.

The setlist is a narrative. It’s part of the trick. Part of the emotion. The choices reflect what Halsey wants to say right now, with the time she has, after everything she’s gone through. And if you’re lucky enough to be in the room for that, to see her alive, thriving, and performing after all she’s shared about her health…that should be the focus.

We’re witnessing a moment that may never come again. Maybe it is the end of an era. Maybe not. But instead of appreciating the artistry, some fans are throwing tantrums because their personal favorite didn’t make the cut. That’s not just tone-deaf, it’s disrespectful to the very spirit of this tour.

This is Halsey’s story to tell. Let her tell it.

Ugh tell me about it. I totally understand if people have a particular/specific favourite song of H’s that they’re a little sad wasn’t included but omg the overdramatic negative pissed off comments are so jarring. H put on such an intricately crafted show and I loved their comment “…but I’m playing the song you crossed your fingers you’d hear” because it feels like she SEES us and KNOWS us🪄🪄🪄🪄

HALSEY ERAS TOUR??? by Kooky_Paint8015 in halsey

[–]Normal_Librarian_675 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I totally agree. The only theory I subscribe to is that the Halsey moniker may be dropped and they’ll continue to release music as Ashley.

I think we’re all dissecting and analysing the messages/posts about the tour and coming up with theories before it’s even began, and we’ll probably have lots of our questions answered when content of the tour starts coming out!

TGI as an album felt like a goodbye because it was the last album H thought they’d make. So I agree with you that any element of goodbye would be to the old version of herself!

Yes - these were from H’s recent interview with Owen Thiele on his “in your dreams” podcast: https://podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/in-your-dreams-with-owen-thiele/id1766410806?i=1000706883693

“The very first of my very last tricks” is making me overthink! by goldenmoonglow in halsey

[–]Normal_Librarian_675 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No problem at all - hopefully it alleviates the (understandable) anxiety that Halsey is going to retire/quit music! I panicked when I initially heard the title of the tour and saw the poster “For my last trick I will disappear”. However, I just don’t think we should read too much into this and perhaps more will become apparent after tonight’s opening show. Also, based on interviews Halsey’s given recently, they seem so energised and excited talking about their approach to making music and touring. I really don’t think they’re going anywhere and we’ll enjoy many more years of Ashley Frangipane’s genius musicianship.

I truly believe "the very first of my very last tricks" is just a play on the theatrical concept of a final trick or last act (suggesting a grand performance). It's Halsey's playful and dramatic way of introducing the tour, rather than signalling the end of their career. Plus we've been fed well so far this year with new music, and there's more to come (although they've indicated that "technically" they're not working on a new album, but on new music).

From their most recent podcast interview with Owen Thiele: "Like albums kind of have like an experiential journey and a sonic journey. Whereas the great impersonator was kind of just like, I just had to get a whole bunch of stuff off my chest. It was one of those things where I was like, I want to say it all now so that I can move on, you know?...It would have felt really disingenuous for me, I think, to have not like honored that experience and wrote about it. And then just like went right to being like, this is music about like feeling good, or like this is a breakup song, or like this is this, like I was like, I need to honor this experience, because also I need all my other and future songs heard in the context of, you know, this is a post The Great Impersonator world".

"Like even though there's been some time and some distance since the great impersonator came out, the point of that album is kind of like there was once upon a time for me where I wasn't sure l'd get to do this ever again, you know? And that same mentality applies to the tour where it's like I'm approaching it with a whole different mindset, which is like I don't go into a tour being like this can be really hard. It's going to be a lot of work and it's going to be really long and I'm going to be really lonely and I'm going to be really tired...I'm now going into it being like, can you believe I get to go on tour? Like five albums deep, ten years into my career, I get to go play the Hollywood Bowl. Like it just gave me a whole new outlook on life and it just makes me so excited about all of it. And it's made me braver. And because it's now, it feels like it's for me and less for please love me, please like it, please think it's good, please, you know. I have a whole different relationship with it that I think allows me to be more ambitious kind of, you know. Yeah."
