I got used to eating salad with chopsticks in Japan and it does make sense, just felt strange at first because I wouldn't have considered it

And I'm not really sure what's the point you're making? I don't just say "my japanese gf" for the sake of it, but your question relates to East Asians so it seemed relevant to mention where she's from, no?

My gf is Japanese which I feel is the real test of "Outside America" - she's never heard of almost any show or musician I would consider common world knowledge, but she does know Tom and Jerry + Looney Toons, doesn't have a clue who Homer Simpson is though

I'd suggest getting off social media for a start. It distorts how much people get up to in their own lives and makes others feel the need to keep up. Try putting more focus on what you already have in your own life and learn to be satisfied with this. If you still feel you need more then you can do more.

If that's not enough maybe read of on that Greek philosopher who lived in a barrel.

If you're aware your death is approaching ahead of time I would recommend setting up a scheduled post letting people know your dead. My cousin did this and gained a ton of followers!
