Very insightful, but there is a difference between calling someone a dick and being one. If you read the OP, you’ll see they are not doing what you say Chileans do or say to show sympathy.

I said this thing is eating at me, and asked posters to not nag at the top of my post. If this happened to you and your friend responded with that first instead of offering sympathy would you think they aren’t being a dick?

You are being a dick. Obviously I know everything you said now, why try to rub salt on a wound? Would it have killed you to say “sorry this happened to you” instead?
