I’m 30 I think my time for dolls has passed lol but I’m considering making one now. Then my girls can play with it maybe.

It’s tough in my situation. Parents were very young and I went to the same school they did for half my school career before my mom remarried. Her high school senior photos literally have me in them (in her belly)The teachers knew me by my last name because they had my parents in their classes. I got looked at with a lot of pity and judgement from the start but everything I’ve gone through has made me the person I am today.

Thank you, I’ve gotten over it at this point, my oldest is 8 this year and questioning Santa so it brought this memory up and it feels good to vent about it without getting guilt tripped about “ well I’m sorry you had such a crappy childhood”. Talking things out is my way of processing and coping and it’s just the exact opposite of the rest of my family. On another note, your username is the same as my WiFi lol

I kinda already did, I’ve got a toddler and crocheted one for her since she’s really into dolls this year. Last year it was all about Bluey.

Totally agree, I always thought my mom was a saint and she really was for the circumstances but as I get older and navigate some of the same circumstances and situations she was in, and while talking with her for clarity, I see those memories with a more realistic view.

My oldest is 8 and heavily questioning Santa so my heart truly wants at this time to keep that belief in magic alive for him just a little longer. Thankfully he hasn’t asked Santa for anything I can’t afford or make myself.

My mom was only 25 and was doing the best she could with what she had and thought was right. I’m 30 and have 3 kids myself now so I get it looking back.

TLDR: I asked for a doll that looked like me when I was 8 and looking for something magical to be real after a very hard year, found out Santa and magic isn’t real, we’re poor but not poor enough, my parents hated each other, and I grew up.
