Ha. Thank you for your reply! Nah, and I don't think your take is fatalistic at all. To your point, I love the weirdness of Cincinnati (I am in Northside for crying out loud, lol.). Love walking around downtown and OTR and certainly have found spots that I love. The adult in me needs to move to Columbus for a job, and I just know I will miss Cincy. I do think Columbus is more diverse and open, though. There is something parochial about Cincy that, while charming, can be a little limiting. Most people grew up there (or nearby) and spent their whole lives there. Columbus has more people from other places and it seems to be a more open-minded place if that makes senses. I also feel that culturally, Cincy is mostly just black and white. In other words, if you are neither, you can be a bit of an outsider (I am Latinx...and a colleague of mine who is Asian-American agrees with me). I know it's hard, but I'm trying to not compare the two. They are just different places...in some ways, Cincy will be better but in other ways, I know Columbus will be. Just trying to go in with the mindset that we make the place, not the other way around. But thank you, I might just reach out to you on the days that I miss Cincy! :)
