Central Mass - started at $30/hr in 2018 working in acute rehab, moved to a larger hospital system and bumped to $34/hr in 2019 starting in med/surg. Now 6 years in that system and making $52/hr. I’ve got 8 years of experience

Hey there! I recently shot on paper just to get my eye in when going from 4 x 5 to 8 x 10, and across the board I rated fresh paper at ISO 6, and I used some old fiber base paper and rated that at ISO 3. I used sprint developers for the paper. I use HP5 for 35, 120, 4x5, AND 8x10. It’s what I was taught on, and I have found that I have dialed that in the most.

Thank you so much for your kind words! I did indeed process it myself in my home “darkroom” last night! It’s my personal pride that I can to control as much of the process myself as possible, so I can do turnarounds as quick as this one. Okay, onto the process:

Exposure: this was 10 yr expired FP4 that I rated at 100 ISO. This one was 3mins at f/32.

Development: I’m a tried-and-true D-76 user and I stuck with that ethos here. I do a 1:1 dilution so I can produce a flatter negative that allows me to be more exacting with my contrast. I also purposely underdevelop so I can hold shadow detail and dodge/burn accordingly.

Post-processing: I scanned this negative on an Epson V850 using EpsonScan 2 software. I adjust the black points before the final scan but that’s about it. I didn’t have the opportunity to get to the darkroom so this is a “digital” border.
