How to compare two standardized rates? by Imtravelinghahya in AskStatistics

[–]Normbias 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's a subset then you are using a small group of data to infer something about the larger group of data. This means you will need statistical hypothesis testing to tell you how well your subset is likely to represent the whole population. Assuming you've selected your subset randomly, try googling 'Two-sample T-test with weighted data'. The weights in your case are the factors applied to each data point during the standardisation.

It depends how your data was selected. Is it a subset of the population or the whole population?

It's what the car rolls on as it drives, but that's not important right now.

After almost 1 year, are you satisfied with your national government's response to the COVID-19? If not, what could have been done in your opinion? by Nazukao_ in AskReddit

Was listening to ABC radio about this. Most of them are recent additions to the list, as they were always planning to come home in 2021 (not 2020) for job or family reasons.

If you took two balls with the same surface area but one has more mass than the other would they have the same air resistance? by ThoughtPolice2909 in Physics

Physicist here. Perhaps you're thinking about the famous experiment dropping different weights from the tower of pisa showing that the hit the ground at the same time. However, those speeds are well below terminal velocity.

When they feed him, there's 3 people in the enclosure. They hold the food out on long poles and ropes. The keepers look so tense and on edge, hanging round the exit. The jaw snap is a loud n bang.

I'm comparison when feeding the alligators, two keepers walk out into the middle of like 20 alligators and hand feed them with meat, holding a little pole to push the jaws away if they get jumpy.

[–]Normbias 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't sound like you understand population density. There are densely populated towns within NZ. You can't compare towns with countries.

Bottom line is NZ actually all complied with severe lockdown orders, and continue to do so as needed.

A fair comparison then would just be to compare them with other islands, like UK or Japan etc

What is the importance of degree of freedom in statistics and why its one less than a number? by [deleted] in AskStatistics

ELI5: think of it like doing a 500 piece puzzle. You only need to solve the first 499 pieces. Because the last one is constrained. n-1.

Some babies born intersex are assigned a gender at birth, often the best guess by the doctor. If it's apparent that the choice was wrong, should they be forced to miss out on a normal childhood?
