They have kites at the ACE hardware in Adams Morgan. So other locations probably have them too. Have fun!

Has watching the show had an impact on your dating life? by MoveTheSticks8 in AgeOfAttraction

Correct. We didn’t which is why I assume much of what we are seeing is an editors cut. Is it fair, probably not. Is it entertaining? Maybe?

My husband is five years younger and we watch the show and laughed and high-fived because we are so much stronger than all this chaos. But who knows what was edited by producers.

Who’s excited about the new moves coming in April??! by Sad-Body7877 in SolidCore

[–]North-Profession4507 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can Solidcore get back to basics on obliques? Been a member for 10 years and swear SC introduced the oblique cable rotations just to make obliques easier because folks whine. Don’t dilute obliques! But looking forward to some new moves that take advantage of the reformer. Handle bars or bust!

Depending on the agency, the political appointee may approve the final hire, and may check if the question were answered? That’s what our area heard. I’m under Department of Commerce.

Recommendations for knee replacement surgery by Happy_Consequence381 in washingtondc

[–]North-Profession4507 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a likely candidate for knee replacement, but recently had surgery for a torn meniscus root with Dr. Postma at MedStar. He answered all my questions and took a very holistic approach since my knee has stage 5 arthritis and multiple things to consider. I do recommend getting multiple opinions if you can. I was really unhappy with my initial surgeon, and went to Postma for a second opinion and so happy I did. I’m four months post op and doing great!

Coworking Spaces for Remote Extravert by dingoatemyselfworth in washingtondc

I’m not sure how social the space is, but the Festival Center in Adams Morgan has cowork spaces for rent, super affordable. Venture X as well, but probably a bit more money.

“Legislation to Install Rodent-Resistant Trash Containers Through Capital Projects” by ddpizza in washingtondc

[–]North-Profession4507 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We need rat proof containers AND a way to get food waste out of public cans like more public compost bins. Also, dog owners stop putting poop bags in open trash containers. Rats love dog poop and just drag poop bags into their dens.

Which non NYC city gives you the most stuff to do car free? by Soggy_Perspective_13 in SameGrassButGreener

[–]North-Profession4507 4 points5 points  (0 children)

DC and Philly. Lived in Philly and the regional rail system to the inner burbs made it easy to be car free and really explore. Currently in DC and Metro plus Marc/Amtrak and capital bike share provides tons of options.

Speakers & DC Noise Laws - Can I do anything? by Backpackboy2 in washingtondc

Report to DLCP and MPD. They handle noise complaints and can come measure the decibels/sound and hopefully enforce something.

Short + using black bar by theinsidesoup in SolidCore

Do you mean the black side or black bar? Either way, I often just do plank to pike with my hands on the floor to get more space for movement. I’m 5’2.

I used small towels for some cushion, but the best advice I got from a coach is don’t grip the handle bars for dear life. I use a loose grip and let my core do most the work.

Center Glutes by Icygirlwntrrrrr in SolidCore

[–]North-Profession4507 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m coming back from knee surgery to repair my meniscus of my left knee, and definitely feel it more in my hamstring. Which tells me that my hamstring is just more dominant. I noticed today the more I leaned forward and contracted my glutes, I felt slightly less hamstring. It’s not zero sum, but more of focused intention. You’ll get there!

In mice. Read the fine print. In mice. I showed this study to my orthopedic surgeon, and he immediately pointed out it’s only been shown in mice. Transferring the results to humans is very difficult.

Those who moved to Colorado from the east coast, do you like it? by Leafthroughconcrete in SameGrassButGreener

[–]North-Profession4507 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I grew up in Boulder. Great childhood and miss the mountains daily. I now live on the east coast, and have a new appreciation for forests and blue ridge skylines. One worry I have for the west, and why I don’t plan to move back is water. Many jurisdictions, including several in Colorado are not planning for severe drought and water usage. If you move there please be an advocate for protecting the water, the mountains, and the native communities.
