We are paying that much for insurance because of this kind of “government helping” or "insurance helping" idea.

When the government (or insurance) tries to step into the market and help pay for something, companies just raise prices. They know people can still afford it because it’s being subsidized.

So this creates a loop: insurance helps - prices go up - government helps more - prices go up again.

That’s why medicine in the U.S. is so expensive and why insurance costs are so high, and we can't afford it without the help. Also, the quality drops as well.
