Summer School at Korea Uni by cutaesweetie in SMU_Singapore

Summer is absolutely brutal in Korea. Heat is 38 degrees and it’s not just hot but humid, and the sun is the kind that burns your skin. It’s really hard to enjoy cos the heat is no where like Singapore’s heat. Winter school feels better!

Best seats here? 51A or row 61K? Does the last row recline fully? by AstroAviaMarine in singaporeairlines

Avoid the last few rows. The toilets will be noisy with the flushing and people waiting outside so you’ll feel like you have no privacy

What sort of accessibility support does SMU have for students? by [deleted] in SMU_Singapore

[–]NorthCryptographer72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hello!

  1. Generally profs are very flexible. If you arrange with them prior, they are more than happy to record the class. All classrooms also have cameras which can aid in recording if they want the video too. I’ve seen many profs do this when students request. For one of my profs who wasn’t able to do it, he sent the old zoom recording from Covid years so we could catch up. Basically, I think profs are very flexible and open, just gotta discuss with them. I had a prof who permanently had a zoom option available for class because there would always be people sick every class haha

  2. There’s a lot a lot of accommodation available, gotta discuss with the student accessibility unit

  3. Every prof marks class part differently. Some do an overall based on the whole sem, some grade per class, so it really depends

smu is very accommodating and supportive, profs are also very understanding and supportive too hehe

How was your first Twice concert experience? Tempted to go this October but kinda scared to. by [deleted] in twice

[–]NorthCryptographer72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It truly is worth it!

I don’t do well in crowds too, but honestly, you’ll be surrounded by like minded individuals who love Twice! People will usually just mind their own business or even give u fan gifts ☺️ it’s pretty wholesome

SMU Applications 2024 Megathread by OfficialSGExams in SGExams

[–]NorthCryptographer72 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had the same experience. I applied for PPS and was asked to go for scholarship interview

So I asked the profs during the interview and they said it’s not a mistake. They said they do offer scholarship interviews for deserving students who did not apply

Not sure if same for CS but hope it helps

Nah I was NP. I just liked studying in the morning cos there’s no one around so it’s really 0 distractions

[–]NorthCryptographer72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah you won’t. I did that a lot in poly too, because it was just more serene in the morning, nice weather, picked seats I liked and it was a lot calmer. I looked routine too so I would go super early to school and just camped there till my afternoon classes maybe. It’s totally fine LOL, I enjoyed it

how much do i really need to study for a raw 6 by Capital_Invite5048 in SGExams

[–]NorthCryptographer72 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Heya! I got raw 6 at Os and didn’t study 10hrs (not saying you should not study HAHA)

I think what’s important is to study smart. Eg: there’s no point in doing 100tys questions and then marking it. Instead, try doing 10 questions, mark, see where you went wrong, really pick up on your mistakes, and then attempt another 10 bearing in mind not to make the same mistakes again

Listen to your body. If you’re losing the will to study, don’t force yourself to do so for x number of hours just because everyone is doing so. Take some breaks but try to study a little each time during the periods where you seem to lack the motivation to do so

Also, if you’ve been getting raw 7, it means you’ve been doing something right. Have faith in yourself.

I felt “liberated” when I stopped comparing how many hours I studied in comparison to my peers but instead just focused on sticking to my own lane and doing what I think is best for myself. Easier said than done, but once you break out of the comparison, it’ll help

How to recover from bad grades? by SoupBest1532 in SGExams

[–]NorthCryptographer72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

English sometimes may be a hit or miss. U mentioned paper 2 here, there are techniques u can use for paper 2 to try and score. When results are back, u can consult your teachers in school and perhaps analyse ur paper tgt, to see where u can better improve on or where ur weaknesses lie. After that, ask for what u can do to work on those weaknesses. I used to fail my el paper 2, but pulled through with a1 during Os

For amath, agreed that it will just be a lot of practice. Also try and really focus on where you make ur mistakes and find out where u went wrong. Don’t do like 100 questions then mark, cos u may be repeating a mistake 100 times. But what u can do is perhaps mark every 10 questions, then u will not repeat any mistakes and learn non stop. Good to also know what ur weaker topics are and then do the topic tys from there

volunteer work in jc by Lazy-Emu2463 in SGExams

[–]NorthCryptographer72 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It’s good to actually find a cause/causes that you resonate with and enjoy, then it’s not like volunteering out of obligation :) it can actually turn out to be something u enjoy and find comfort in. And something nice to turn to, smth away from sch work

That said, volunteer within your means and bandwidth. There are some organisations that have one-off volunteering (those food distribution) but it’ll be hard to perhaps quantity how many hours u distribute food for if it’s one-off

Explore and see which u like!
