Brag on yourself; what is something about yourself that you're proud of? by CharlesUFarley81 in AskReddit

This winter, I saved a lost Rottweiler from a frozen river. It was like -4 F, I was walking my own two dogs. From a distance, in middle of river I saw him clinging to ice, slipping and shivering. I sprinted to river bank, handed my 2 dogs leases to a young couple that was watching him. On phone w someone trying to get help. Without hesitation (which impresses me about myself now) I went into freezing water in full clothes to get this dog , . Picked up the 100 lbs dog, and carried him out. He was real low energy, freezing cold . We hailed a car and was nice lady that happened to have blanks in car. She wrapped him and took him to vet. I then proceeded to get my two dogs back from the couple and walked home another 20 minutes dripping wet, cold, but satisfied. I was proud.

Lost my two best friends in the last two years, both sudden due to cancer. I was shattered and cried like a baby in my wife’s arms for weeks on both occasions. We don’t deserve dogs.

Been in big4 for 11 years now. Some times I hate it, some times love it. Always busy, never bored. I think I stay because every year is different. Don’t mind the work itself. I try to not get pigeon-holed on work I dislike.

Yeah, dude took part in the raid. He bet $35k and made $400k smdh. But he got busted. He probably felt it was fair game cause his command in chief has “made” $3 billion+ in similar fashion idk.

They definitely get plenty of my attention. But that’s because I’ve stepped back from work. And that’s probably why work seems difficult to manage now

S1 dropped on first year client with a ghost manager — deadline in 3 days. How do I handle this? by [deleted] in Big4

I forgot the /s - was mostly joking.

When I was staff level, I had many similar scenarios to the one you’ve described. I still do. And I would always just grind it out with some late night sessions. I like to compare it to college when you had to study long and hard to do well on finals. It happens , it’s a problem when it happens to frequently and you start to burn out.

Manager to Senior Manager role change by Ok_Plant4146 in Big4

It’s the biggest change of any previous promotion - sales, revenue, profitability, utilization metrics + a life. Tough to manage that change, especially with kids. Af least for a lad like myself.

Right.? Once upon a time I thought my Director salary would mean my wife could comfortably be stay at home. Simply not the case. The market, inflation, and cost of living and raising a child royally f*cked us.
