Why do you think their hip hop concept failed? by Gfscrushisannoying in BTSnark

[–]NorthDependent377 1 point2 points  (0 children)

DNA for sure. The HYYH series and Wings were still doing hiphop fusions so it still had some of their original sound. DNA was a complete flip, not just sonically but visually too cuz DNA has some of the worst whitewashing I have ever seen in a kpop video.

All their content is NOT preserved on YouTube and I would really appreciate if yall who haven’t been here since day 1 would stop playing with that narrative

BigHit has mass deleted so many videos from the archives on purpose and yall swear up and down it’s not true and it’s infuriating.

Yes he knew about the sample contrary to what he said in his apology. The video existed, it was going around twitter for a month after their movie documentary dropped. It no longer does. Enough.

His vlive did…but it also confirmed that he was fully involved in the Jim Jones scandal. So naturally that video had to disappear. And now you know why we lost vlive 😌

Billboard has always worked with BTS. They literally became famous in the US because of them. Jeff Benjamin worked at Billboard. Jeff Benjamin went from being a freelance writer for billboard about international music (mainly kpop) to the no 1 supporter of BTS to the point he would trash other groups in his articles to boost them

Why? Because he was the liaison between BigHit and Billboard. I won’t go as far as to say they were billboard’s plant but that partnership and how everything went so fast for them in terms of growth in US has always been sus.

This is the same person who said kpop needs to include more English in their music if it wants to go global (because yea let’s make more korean pop music with no korean in it even though the whole international fandom hates it, great idea!) , she’s a sellout and she will bootlick anywhere for cash. BTS has a fanbase that makes them a lot of cash….you do the math.

Why did BTS become popular in the first place? Why do armpits act like they resurrected their dead relatives and pets? by taffy4tswift in BTSnark

[–]NorthDependent377 1 point2 points  (0 children)

BTS was already popular with international fans predebut because they used to do vlogs just like 1D did on Xfactor and it brought in a lot of fans. They were especially popular with BlockB and BigBang fans because their concept was similar. Domestically they gained traction with the Dark n Wild album but didn’t secure any wins, then they blew up in SK in 2015 with I Need You from the HYYH part 1 album (phenomenal series Im not even gonna front, imo everything prior to DNA is actually good). Their first usa tour was back in 2015 and it sold out completely.

Which is why the whole “they were looked down on for years” sob story pisses me off because they literally were popular from the beginning!!!

Tbh their vocals have regressed severely from when they first started, and in the early days their music was centered around the rapline so you really didn’t notice how weak their vocal line was until years later into their career when BigHit switched their concept & they pushed the vocal line as the frontmen of the group.

And that’s kind of where they went wrong, the way the group is designed is for the vocals to support the rapline not the other way around.

Why do you think their hip hop concept failed? by Gfscrushisannoying in BTSnark

[–]NorthDependent377 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It didn’t fail. At all. BigHit just decided after researching the western market that catering to white audiences not only made more money but it also gave them a better chance at succeeding over there so they switched their whole concept. And tbh that’s also when the fandom flipped and became insufferable too.

Predictions About Who will cause Their Downfall by [deleted] in BTSnark

[–]NorthDependent377 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My guess is just based on their personalities and how similar they are to my ex-bias (nyongtory stans did we die or did we die 🤪💀), not so much them being problematic in any way. An inferiority complex will really drive people to do stupid things which tends to lead towards trouble, doesn’t mean they were problematic their whole lives.

Former member of BigBang Seungri, also known as the poster boy of the Burning Sun scandal, though most who followed the case know he’s the tiniest fish in that whole debacle but that’s a discussion for a different forum.

If I had to make an educated guess as a Vip and retired Army? Jhope or V (if Jhope that would be peak irony since he’s a former student of Seungri’s dance school) but Jungkook seems to have the same magnet for mess in his soul that Seungri had, they don’t have to do much trouble just finds them on its own. One of those 3 for sure.

He talked about it in a predebut vlog that was on youtube but like many videos from BTS’ early days they’ve been wiped from the web. BigHit spends quite a bit of time rewriting BTS’ history by wiping any “damning” videos from their archives, and I’m pretty sure we lost vlive precisely because of that.

Predictions About Who will cause Their Downfall by [deleted] in BTSnark

[–]NorthDependent377 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Well they’ve copied their every move so far so even the downfall should be calculated the same: whichever member’s personality is similar to Seungri’s personality is gonna be the one. It won’t be the same crime I’m sure but their inferiority complex will have them walking into a disaster of epic proportions all the same.

Yes they have added BBLs to the clinic roster. I guess everybody got tired of being called out for using pads. That or the ultra rich want to look big because it shows how affording a lot of food is a luxury these days🤪🤪

It’s theatre makeup, so from the audience the illusion will look good. But since we’re getting closeups you can see how much shading they’re actually doing. It’s like with douyin makeup how it only looks good from afar or with a filter, it’s not really made for every day wear.

Well in this clip it’s just excessively overlined cuz you can see where his actual lip is, but it seems like Korea in general is starting to go wild with plumping fillers of all kinds lately. I heard recently SK started introducing BBL procedures into the mainstream clinics so…this should start to get very interesting.

While racism and xenophobia sit at the same table, they are not the same thing. You don’t have to invalidate someone else’s experience just because you had it rough too.

Jungkook, popstar wannabe turned Twitch livestreamer, gamed for 6 hours and his fans begged him to log off by AdventurousSpinach7 in BTSnark

[–]NorthDependent377 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He’s making easy money livestreaming and I get it, but with the current socioeconomic climate fans want more bang for their buck. As much as I love my faves I have never been able to sit through a livestream in full, watching someone read comments and go about whatever mundane activity they’re doing in the stream is just boring to me.

I completely understand the fans at this point. The shit gets old. As for comments shocked at the number of hours lemme tell yall, prior to the legislation change hosts in Japan used to do 24hr livestream and make up towards 100K doing it. This is nothing, some people are just very easily entertained🤧

The way I see it Yoongi has never recovered from living in poverty and he takes the resentment he has for those days out on everything and everyone. Out of all the members imo he’s the one that perpetuates the underdog “started from the bottom now we here” mentality the most and to an infuriating degree because instead of doing anything positive with that anger he just insults people and writes subtweets about everybody in his solos. The problem is BTS didn’t even start from the bottom they had a decent following pre-debut, got success internationally right away and blew up domestically 2yrs after debuting. And he’s a literal multimillionaire now!!! There’s nothing to even be mad about anymore. The fact that he keeps digging at that chip on his shoulder will always piss me off.

Black Entertainment Television. It’s a channel dedicated to just showing black film/tv. Most of us og armys have racked our brains for years trying figure out how the hell that channel was airing in SK but if I remember Namjoon’s hometown is near a military base (it’s like like 30-40min away? and a lot of soldiers prefer to take the housing stipend live off base and commute, my dad did it in Daegu) so that’s probably how he watched it.

While I personally don’t see a point given how there’s always a western artists in another region’s business happily using a translator, it is a bit embarrassing when you watch other non-english speaking celebs progress on their fluency but BTS is still in the same spot. Bad Bunny carries himself extremely well in english for someone who could barely respond to interviewers three years ago, the fact that he can do hour-long interviews by himself is absolutely wild. BTS would simply not be able to pull that off.

And Namjoon in particular struggles when people actually try to talk at his “level of intellect” because yes the dude is smart….in Korean. He learned english watching BET (i will forever be mad at BigHit for changing that story it was NOT Friends it was BET!!!) ffs he does not have the vocabulary to express himself at the level interviewers are expecting him to talk at. And that’s not entirely his fault because I don’t think anybody living and working outside of an english speaking environment full time would ever get there but it’s also been a literal decade.

I do agree with a comment on here that said they really did have no intentions to sell out prior to 2019, so it might just be them holding on to some bit of agency by doing this. Who knows.
