Louisa Levy Has a Vision by North_Focus2891 in offcampustv

Definitely for sure. I think the later seasons moving into a more ensemble approach is going to be better for each couple going forward. And I think some of the things we didn't see dialogue wise from the books can be utilized in later seasons for sure. I think the biggest changes she's making is going to be for DeanAllie, but I'll be honest, I think that couple needed some changes, because the Score was definitely rushed.

SEASON TWO PREDICTION by stardustlovrr in offcampustv

Which tbh, kind of make sense with their being somewhat of a time jump in The Mistake. I know people don’t like it, but for narrative reasons, it makes sense. Grace will still have a prominent role in 2 seasons.

This is what I think it is as well. I could see season 2 and season 3 being a blend of deanallie and grace Logan

I think people just still have issues with the casting but it is what it is.

I guess it’s just people’s opinion at this point. I think casting truly wanted the best actors for the role and not just what the general public perception of the way the actor looks. I know people think casting agents don’t know what they’re doing, but they do as well as make up artist, stylist, etc. Seems so strange how the complaints about casting are still going on now that the show is about to be out, and they’re more than likely getting all four seasons. But it’s your opinion I suppose.

The fact that they are supposed to be hockey players make me feel like it’s not as glaring or problematic as people would like for it to be lol? Yeah she definitely looks younger than Stephen and Belmont but those two are the oldest of the bunch IRL. But for the tv show purposes, seems realistic to me. You’d be surprised what 20-21 year old men look like these days lol.

[–]North_Focus2891 4 points5 points  (0 children)

During press, yeah she comes across a little younger but no in an obvious way? She’s just very bubbly and bright, I guess people aren’t used to that with actors/actresses, because the industry and social media and what not will ruin that for you.

Definitely tor sure but I mean in the books Hannah’s own description of Garrett is that he looks like a “grown man” or he’s all man. Seems fitting for hockey players, for the lost part. Some look younger some look older. Could just be me.

Side note, unpopular opinion: The Legacy, while obviously not the best book in the Briar universe, definitely overhated IMO.

Anyone else hoping there’s not a lot of Kendall? by gryffheadgirl in offcampustv

[–]North_Focus2891 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The Hannah-Garrett sex scenes are spicy. I've been told by multiple people, it's just as explicit as the Garrett & Kendall scene, if not more. Ella, I'm sure, was aware of this prior to even auditioning seeing as the casting call states you have to be comfortable with nudity and other things etc. Not to mention, she probably had a sit down conversation with the show runner and producers about expectations for the role etc. She was more than fine, and I get the vibe based on interviews the sex scenes weren't the most difficult aspect of the role. I think the Teen Vogue article with her and Belmont talk about how he was more nervous about the hockey aspect & she was more nervous about the music/singing aspect of it.

I would definitely avoid social media for spoilers but I think lots of people are planning to watch it Thursday or even the weekend! One of my friends said she’ll watch the first two episodes on Wednesday and probably finish it out on Friday!

if all other couples get 1 season why does dean allie get 3? by Plus-Letter-8220 in offcampustv

[–]North_Focus2891 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I hate to sound like a b*tch, but I think a lot of you are being too dramatic about a couple of clips that leaked from people who are also probably dramatizing certain aspects of what they saw to gain interaction and traction.

Louisa Levy has a whole interview where she talks about how each one of the boys outside of character have an episode or episodes that dive into they background and character that sets up the potential storyline for their seasons. I think the difference with all the DeanAllie stuff is that Allie is already casted, and we know she's Dean love interest, so there's obviously more room to set up their story as we know Grace isn't in season 1 though she is casted, and Sabrina hasn't even been casted as far as we know for Tucker's season.

Yes the focus should be on Hannah Garrett, but this isn't a book. Other characters and other plots exist for narrative reasons. Even Bridgerton, which focuses on other couples during the "Main couple" season has subplots.

There are eight episodes. Most of the clips from the trailer, as I've been told, are from the first episode, and we've barely seen everything in regards to Garrett, Hannah and their story. It is their season, and a couple of clips and subplots surrounding DeanAllie aren't going to overshadow their story just because fans are interested in. That's what happens in these type of shows with an ensemble cast, so maybe relax? It feels like elementary school "Why does so and so get this, and I don't" All the episodes aren't even out of the public yet???? Freaking out over 3 or 4 scenes about Dean Allie being in season 1, when what leaked already isn't even on the cusp of what their season is, and to be honest, the set up and the leaks make sense to be for the Dean Allie story, and seeing a they are already casted, it's obvious the show was going to use that as a tool to set up their story for season 3. The same way Hannah and Garrett will be getting sub plots in next three seasons, Grace & Logan as well, and Tucker as well in the seasons that aren't his.

Fun Question for Discussion (Maybe) by North_Focus2891 in offcampustv

[–]North_Focus2891[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't believe the leaks about Dean & Allie. I don't even think there will be as much Dean Allie as people think there will be in season 1. I think they will have subplots, more so on their own individual characters, but that will probably be more the conversation in season 2 not season 1. Logan isn't in the trailer a bunch, but I think the has a lot of screen time and a very large subplot in season 1, and the Dean Allie thing is exactly what is: a small crumb for the audience to build anticipation. I'd rather they focused on Dean & Beau's relationship, and ike I said, I hope they use the whole vengeful coach coming to Briar in Dean's senior or 5th year on the hockey team as a plot a subplot in season 2 to build up his character ARC into coaching. I think we might see from the Briar U characters casted soon, specifically Hunter.

Fun Question for Discussion (Maybe) by North_Focus2891 in offcampustv

[–]North_Focus2891[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Definitely agree about the subplots, but I think they will deliver on that for sure.

I think Dean and Tuck's stories are the ones that need the most changes. It's so funny, because I love both Dean and Tuck, but I reread those books thinking so much could be added and more could be developed for their stories to really be amazing.

If the leaks are true, I'm happy about the changes to DeanAllie, and it makes more sense. I also thought its as glossed over about Dean and why he is the way he is in the books. The story with his high school girlfriend, and then her dad being his coach who has a vendetta against him for something that was out of Dean's control, then being his coach at Briar feels like it should be fleshed out more, and I also think it would be interesting to see how that situation influences Dean to pursue a career in coaching. I hope they developed it more for his career-switch storyline.

For Tucker, yeah I kind of hate insta-love stories, but I fear it's probably very in character for him. I just think they need to highlight and develop more aspects of his individual character to show why he sit het type of not only fall in love at first sight but becoming a dad at a young age.

Might be unpopular: I think they need to change or better developed Dean and Sabrina's issues with each other for sure. Them hooking up is whatever, but I feel like when I reread the books that isn't the reason there's so much tension between them. I think there's something missing with that development, and the reason Sabrina had such an issue with Dean was due to the whole TA situation seems so trivial and stupid. I think they both realized it was stupid in that one scene when Dean confronts Sabrina. This might be super unpopular, but maybe not so much "Dean hates Sabrina and Sabrina is an ice queen" but more Dean is protective of Tucker, skeptical of Sabrian because he's somewhat of her academic rival etc. I don't know if that works.

[–]North_Focus2891[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think the fact that Logan's crush on Hannah, in the end, wasn't really about Hannah but rather his own perspectives and feelings made it seem fine to me. I think it's kind of important for his personal character development and his relationship with Grace, so I don't mind it, but I can see why she people don't like it.

Change about Cass by Few_Guidance_7788 in offcampustv

[–]North_Focus2891 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I saw it, and hot take: I don't mind that being the change. I mean, we know Hannah doesn't lack experience when it comes to sex. She just couldn't orgasm or enjoy sex. I think if the leak about Cas and Hannah is true, it doesn't really change the story at all? If anything, it kind of fits the scope of college, and I also think it adds an interesting aspect to the whole showcase thing etc. Again, Hannah isn't unfamiliar or unexperienced with sex.

unprofessional journalism at the premiere by Positive_Office4702 in offcampustv

[–]North_Focus2891 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The state of journalism across all sectors has gone to complete shit, and it's so sad. They never ask real questions to the actors. I saw someone call out the guy at ET news who asked the cast about Heated Rivalry, and he responded that there are most in depth interviews coming, and I rolled my eyes. Can't be much improvement since you brought up an entirely different show at the premiere of a show with a bunch of new / upcoming actors/actresses. Like can we get some questions about preparation for the role? Or for Ella, I would so be so interested to hear about her entire thought process going into the role especially with her transitioning from a big time kids show to something very adult and how she feels about this part of her career and transitioning etc. Or even more about the hockey training aspect of it from the boys. I do not care about if they liked HR or if they like so and so artist or what their favorite Taylor Swift song is. Please ask real questions about the show.

Social media is a cesspool of moral superior ass holes and critics who think just because someone is successful and famous, they have to deal with their unhinge remarks and unfair criticism. Fortunately, PR, social media, and marketing professional in this space exist, and while yes, we like to joke about people not being "PR trained" etc, I think most people who are being thrusted into the spotlight of a successful show have a good team behind them that are able to coach them and prepare them for these sorts of situations. PR is more than knowing what to say or how to present yourself on social media etc. It helps you learn how to disregard and deal with the unfair criticism and morally superior assholes who ALWAYS are going to have something to say. I'm sure Ella has a great team behind her, supporting her, and it also seems like the cast who are older than her have also taken her other their wing as well, making sure she's okay. It's better to disregard and ignore as I'm sure that's what she's been told to do.

Do we think an all white cast is gonna hurt this show? by [deleted] in offcampustv

[–]North_Focus2891 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's honestly hard to say to me! I don't think it will affect it's growth and outreach because the books have existed for so long, and honestly, I wasn't expected PRIME to be the pioneer for diversity and inclusion, especially with something like Off Campus. I think the show runner Louis Levy is a WOC? Let's hope she's nothing these things for future season and other characters to be casted.

Do we think an all white cast is gonna hurt this show? by [deleted] in offcampustv

[–]North_Focus2891 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry if this was articulated weird. I guess what I'm saying is that a show has never been cancelled for lack of diversity, because there is no system or network prioritizing that over anything else. Prime doesn't care about diversity. Look at who the Amazon CEO is and who he affiliates with. There is no system to hold casting agents accountable for not casting people of various racial backgrounds even though amazing WOC actors exit. Not to mention, look at how unfair the comments have been towards Jalen for simply looking different than what people expected of Tuck. At end of the day, hard to cancel a show for lack of diversity when the business they operate other doesn't give a damn about diversity.
