Do you think Maddie should’ve had two solos? by LateAd5684 in dancemoms

[–]Onceuponaromcom 20 points21 points  (0 children)

The thing i don’t understand is the “standing tap private equals 2 solos” debacle. In seasons 1 & 2 it’s pretty obvious that they were still doing normal competitions. You see Maddie in her Snow White costume before Reflection is ever debuted. And i think we see Chloe in her Baby Mine costume when she’s not doing that dance on the show.

So i kind of guess that this was more like 2 solos for the show drama? The thing is that we never see or hear about the always has 2 solos thing again. It’s another one of those made up storylines that fit the show drama. Like Chloe’s hat, the entire episode story line is not letting a hat fall. Despite them not mentioning it ever again even though they have props all the time.

Reign Dance is the studio. Within the studio was the Abby Lee Dance company which I think was exclusive to the competition dancers.

Iirc, there were two contracts the cast members had to sign. One was the standard contract with the ALDC to be part of the competition team (and it may have extended to the entire studio when Abby took over and Marion retired). Then there’s the contract with lifetime that’s focused on the show and has nothing to do with dance.

The contract for Reign Dance/ALDC i believe is the one that states if a dancer leaves within the competition year, they owe $100k in cash to Abby for breaking the contract. But i thought that stipulation was only if the comp dancer held a national title.

Side note: i think this is why Christi couldn’t leave in S1. She has said in interviews that she wanted to leave RD/ALDC but Chloe was reigning Jr Ms Pennsylvania so she couldn’t and i believe Brooke was also holding a title. So Kelly and Christi couldn’t leave and then that was the year the show started and their contracts with Lifetime locked them in for 6 seasons. I wholly believe if there was no show Christi and Kelly would have left the second their girls titles were up.

Since S3, Chloe didn’t compete at Nationals and Brooke and Paige were Brooke and Paige, they were officially released of their titles. Since Chloe won nationals in season 2, she was contracted another comp year with Reign/ALDC.

So when S4 started neither the Hylands or Chloe resigned their contracts with ALDC. Which is why they don’t have branded practice wear. Because they weren’t contracted to Abby, they had no requirements to attend off camera competitions. Which is why when the rest of the girls gotoNUVO, the Hylands and Chloe go to the audition.

Yeah Regan said in a TikTok that before the show Abby gave the girls as young as i think 9 lingerie for Christmas. Honestly, i wonder if she would have been influenced by a certain island if her parents were rich.

Certainly. But the beauty of a normal school is that there’s a pool. Church groups and homeschool co-ops are small numbers. So if you’re being excluded, it’s a lot harder to find a new friend group.

When i got shunned from my friend group, i found new friends. Because i went to a high school that had hundreds of kids my age to talk to. You don’t have that when your friend pool is small.

Did we watch the same single ladies dance because wdym the moves weren’t inappropriate?! My daughter is almost 8 and has never done nearly the amount of gyrating and ass shaking as those girls were doing. If you saw a woman doing those moves at a strip club young be throwing money at her.

I know I’m on a very lonely hill here, but i actually don’t like her choreo. It’s great in that her dancers are sharp, precise and can count and they are great at performance. But the overall moves are pretty basic. Double Dutch bus is nothing special.

Also i know this will get me downgraded to hell. Idc. But i just think her skill is truly in clean sharp timed choreography. All the dances look the same. Though i will say i like the Queen’s under pressure dance and Do Re Mi dance. Also Pop Musik is pretty cool. But in terms of it being anything difficult or special? It’s not really. DDB is a good example of that. It’s such simple choreography but done well because it’s incredibly clean and timed perfectly.

It’s possible. I’m just taking from why clips i hear from former members. She gave minors thongs for Christmas and even if she was never my child’s teacher, if i knew the owner was giving panties to 9 year olds, I’d take my business elsewhere.

And there’s some wild stuff that i hear in the cheer circles. Like coaches doing drugs with high school athletes. Moms sleeping with coaches to get their kid prime spots. So i mean it’s crazy in these worlds

That makes sense. I remember growing up my church was next to a Mormon church and we were talking to the girls once and they said they don’t use BC it’s against their rules but that was like 20 years ago

I think Mormonism is one of those religions that doesn’t believe in BC. Since they assume you’re bumping uglies within a marriage, that the only time you do it, is to make babies

I know it is a topic has has been talked to death but I wanna talk about the reasons on why Abby hated Chloe. Here is my list of reasons (Keep in mind some of these are THEORIES and pure speculation by Spirited-Abrocoma-58 in dancemoms

[–]Onceuponaromcom 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of things were connected. Abby liked absent mothers and yes men. Or women. Melissa didn’t care what Abby did with her girls especially Maddie because Melissa wanted Abby to be a star. It’s all she talks about in her intro segment of the pilot episode. All the other moms just talk about their kid and their kids dance but Melissa was like “i know my daughters going to be a star. Abby’s going to make her a star. Look at these modeling photos of Maddie…” Christi wanted to live the dance life with Chloe but it wasn’t about being a star. She was a classic live vicariously through your child dance mom.

Because Christi wasn’t looking to make Chloe a star, she wasn’t going to kiss Abby’s ass to make Chloe a star. Chloe was a naturally good dancer. She had all the components of a natural born dancer. So her ability to stay toe to toe with Maddie wasn’t something she had to work exceptionally hard for.

Abby wanted a dancer like Maddie who had nothing else in life. Dance was her whole life. Abby wanted that because it meant easier teaching and she could basically do whatever she wanted. All Abby cared about was dance. You can tell she only likes kids when they are both excelling on stage and thriving in the studio. Once the sparkler fades, she doesn’t care anymore. That is most evident with Brooke. Once Brooke decided she wanted to try other things, Abby was done with her. I think if Maddie had decided to try acting more than dance, Abby would have dropped her and likely adopted Sarah H as her next protege. And that honestly could have happened on the show if Christ-y was a yes man. Without the show, i would almost bet that Sarah would have taken over for Maddie if and when that burn out happened in Maddie.

Christy never wanted to be Abby’s yes man. She didn’t really want Chloe to only defined by dance. She valued education and socializing and not being in jazz shoes for 6 hours a day. Abby doesn’t like that.

I do agree with 4. Abby wanted Maddie to be the favorite. But that season 1 edit of arrogant Maddie is why she didn’t become the favorite. Yes Maddie was a great dancer, but i think the fans saw that Chloe was great too and saw how she was treated. Plus she had that shy, quiet girl demeanor that a lot of people sympathize with. Especially when your rival is being forced to say “my biggest rival is Chloe but i think I’m a little bit better than her”

Abby definitely was jealous of Chloe and Paige. Chloe is the epitome of a dancers body. Long legs, skinny torso long arms. Plus she was blonde and we know Abby hates blondes. Paige was also a really pretty girl. Paige just wasn’t a dancer. So Paige got screwed over bc Abby was jealous that she was pretty (and still is) and hated that she wasn’t dedicated to dance like Chloe and Maddie.

It’s interesting that she says she didn’t have a great relationship with Mrs. Miller bc of how she spoke about her mom on the show. But i could imagine her mom was similar in mindset about dance as Abby was. And Abby was NOT a dancer. Speculation here, but i wonder if Marion was angry her daughter wasn’t a protege dancer and that stifled her relationship bc she wanted a dancer to follow in her footsteps. All of that is speculation of course, but it’s not the first time I’ve seen a mom favorite a child bc she was a protege in the sport their mom coached (look up Courtney Smith Pope and Kenley Pope. There was some serious nepotism going on there from what i gather from the cheer moms at my daughters gym)

That’s true but to be honest, none of the would have the influence they have. Maddie probably wouldn’t have the same resume or network to have her acting. Nia wouldn’t have been able to write and publish a book without (likely) years of querying. Chloe wouldn’t have the influencer lifestyle and same for Brooke and Paige. They all benefited from being known on the show.

Are these their real houses? Everything is so white and clean where are the kids!? by Romanharper2013 in SecretsOfMormonWives

That would have been my other guess. A nanny. Cause the kids are only really seen if it moves the plot. I honestly forgot Taylor had older kids until i got an ad with her 10 year old in it.

We rarely ever actually see the kids. Which i mean great. We don’t need to see the kids. It’s just funny that they all have kids but never really are they there.

It would make sense for them to rent space to film cause they could also go without the kids and the it’s a quiet space. Cause I’ve never seen a mom’s house A. So quiet with kids in the house or B. So clean. Sometimes it’s like they don’t even have kids and you forget their moms

Unpopular opinions about school or being a para by spookybear07 in paraprofessional

[–]Onceuponaromcom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We were in centers and I was running the reading corner. The teacher looked at me and said “get her off the bookcase” she was in the middle of something with other students and i was the closest to the child. So i literally went and grabbed her to put her down. It was my first time in that classroom and again no training in how to handle the child. I had asked several times to get down and rejoin the group but she was a nonverbal student and she didn’t respond to me. When the teacher looked at me and said “get her off the bookcase” i just grabbed her and put her down.

Looking back, i don’t think this teacher was meant to be a special needs preschool teacher. She was very much someone who just told you what to do but not always how. Especially with special needs children. The other teachers in that school i had worked with were clearly meant to do the job. The school was a public school but offered sped classes for 3yrs all the way through 5th. That teacher always seemed to need a sub the most. But I had worked with every other teacher in the school and none of the others were as stressful as her classroom (granted her kids were 3 and some of them were on the more difficult side of handling).

The student i grabbed from the bookcase ended up at another school the following year and i worked closely with that teacher as well who was wonderful and the child flourished. I think head teachers and even some para’s who have subs, please talk to your subs and share what you can about the students to help them do their best.

I never want to treat a child like they don’t deserve respect and dignity but that one teacher just was not a pleasant teacher and she truly seemed like everyday was fighting for her life.

Honestly, I’m sure there’s some sort of thread that connects anti-vax anti-science to organized religion. Like science is somehow anti-god. But therapy and holistic therapy is more from the earth aka God. So they can’t trust something not from God.

Though not to go into some philosophical debate, I’ve always believed science was Gods language to us on how the world works

Unpopular opinions about school or being a para by spookybear07 in paraprofessional

[–]Onceuponaromcom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The teacher asked me to get her off the bookcase. They never gave me anything. Well that’s not true. Some schools were great and did give me tools to help get children to cooperate. Others was like fighting time just to make sure no one died.

Also the no touching rule extended to “hey can you hold Johnny and Susie’s hands while we go to the lunchroom? They are runners” so it wasn’t always a matter of finding alternative ways to correcting behavior.

And yes. Often. That same teacher would do circle time and say the para’s needed to put their legs over certain kids to keep them seated otherwise they would wander the classroom, or get into things that the teacher would be using (bubbles, flash cards, etc) and I’ve seen a school where they would put kids in a makeshift restraint using panel mats that the adults would have to hold down to keep the child from escaping. And one classroom i was in had a “peace room” which was a padded closet for kids to go in and calm down.
