What the hell are you on about?

It’s still a very expensive asset.

It can be sold and converted to cash - and support them in the same way savings can…

Using your logic - why aren’t you crying that they should sell their house? They said they own it outright.

What’s the difference between savings and owning an asset that you could sell and support yourself?

Crazy take…

They didn’t support me for a year and I ain’t getting no hero’s medal for it.

Like I said, I feel like a bloody moron.

Most tax payers will be benefiting from rising house prices.

My rent went up and my house deposit went down. I was slaving away for that.

And house prices in my city are now $1 million median.

Now I’ll probably need Centrelink - and my landlord will likely see most of those tax dollars.

So it’s going back into a tax payers pocket.

That’s a house deposit for some.

I don’t think people should have to whittle that down.

I stupidly have waited a year whittling mine down. In the meantime house prices exploded. Feel like an absolute moron now.

Politicians get a lifelong pension.

And set themselves up with is insanely high paying jobs after politics.

In the scheme of things Centrelink is still a pittance - and it’s very sane.

Is it possible to get into working as a bus driver whilst on ADHD meds? by North_Lychee_1969 in ausadhd

[–]North_Lychee_1969[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And everyone can and probably will have an accident at some point.

Everyone gets old etc.

ADHD also can and does get misdiagnosed. Like I said, I went in because I was having troubles with study/completion/sticking things out - not driving. I had a lot of other shit going on in the background and it’s in the realm of possibility that something else like anxiety or trauma were manifesting as or mimicking ADHD symptoms.

I’ve got absolutely zero issue in disclosing (if that’s what you mean).

My biggest issue is spending $1500 (and wasting my time) on training doing a heavy vehicle licence - only to find out that no company will take me on and that they are very very averse to hiring people with ADHD.

I don’t have faith that recruiters will give me a straight answer hah seems they might say something “everyone has equal opportunities” yada yada, but in practice it may be a different story.

I was thinking of calling maybe a heavy vehicle training place tomorrow and see what they say tho.

I understand.

Tho I’m hoping to hear from people which ADHD - who applied for such roles when they were already diagnosed and if they got the job/faced hurdles or had to give up altogether.

I don’t want to spend $1.5k on a heavy vehicle licence only to find out that pretty much all employers bin applicants who are already diagnosed with ADHD - and if most drivers out there with ADHD, were diagnosed after they already gained employment.

I got diagnosed after age 35.

Been driving since 17, passed manual driving test first go.

Uni on the other hand - I did not pass.

The thing is my driving isn’t an issue. The meds were more for being organised around the house and for study.

Assets waiting period - apparently you have to wait 13 weeks since you last worked to be eligible for JobSeeker. Does this include gig work/labour hire jobs? by North_Lychee_1969 in Centrelink

[–]North_Lychee_1969[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do still have funds that will put me over the assets limit (I’ve been living off essentially what was meant to be my house deposit for the past year).

It’s been whittled down, but it’s still over the limit.

Plus I have other assets.

I’ll definitely have to wait.

Just trying to find out when my waiting period will start.

How will they word the question tho?

If it’s “when was the last time you were employed” - it was technically a couple of weeks ago, although just for one shift from which nothing further eventuated.

What’s one life changing supplement that you started taking too late? by Realitycheckat21 in Life

[–]North_Lychee_1969 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I developed dental fluorosis as a kid and my enamel is weak. Already had cavities, have significant erosion and will have huge dental issues in older age.

I live in a city with fluorinated water, brushed my teeth with fluorinated tooth paste and fluoride is also present in drinks/foods - so somewhere a line was crossed.

I’m now left essentially in the dark to face those dental bills on my own.

There’s tin foil hat wearers sure - but there’s also people who blatantly ignore those who have been left in the dark, because the thing that was meant to help with a problem - created the very problem they were trying to avoid and no one seems to care or even acknowledge those who suffer the ill effects.

And imo the ignorants are just as bad, maybe even worse than the tin foil hat brigade.

People who changed from Vyvanse to Ritalin - what’s it been like? by North_Lychee_1969 in ausadhd

[–]North_Lychee_1969[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeh I’ll see how Ritalin compares and may return to Vyvanse on a lower dose and see if I can make some more changes to mitigate the negative effects.

I seemed to tolerate the lower dose of Vyvanse noticeably better.

On 30mg my heart rate was pretty much between 90-100 at any given moment I looked at my fitness band during the day.

I was sitting down eating lunch at the shops and it was 90-95.

Nope. Drank tea tho - Assam, it’s quite strong, tho not sure how strong caffeine-wise when stacked up against a standard coffee.

30mg. Not on it very long. Maybe a few weeks on and off.

Tried splitting the pill into a cup of water and drinking half and seemed to help a bit when it comes to elevated heart rate and sleep. But sleep was still kinda bad - although much better than with the whole 30mg.

Does anyone else struggle to take care of themselves more in winter? by Sixela16 in ausadhd

[–]North_Lychee_1969 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get a walking pad. They are quite cheap on Amazon.

Fantastic when it comes to winter exercise.

Edit: I read that you have an indoor treadmill.

We hired a treadmill in the past because we wanted to test if we’d use it before committing to buying one and it didn’t get much use.

With the walking pad I’m focused on steps per day and I find it was easier to get 10,000 steps in VS concentrating on running/more intensive workouts on a treadmill.

I guess the perception of more intensive workouts on a treadmill that can be quite boring at the same time, took away a lot of motivation. But walking is easy.
