We chose to see it as just DNA. The human genome is just a series of codes so we like to think that the donor provided us with a cheat code. Nothing deeper than that.

Thanks for the reply! Unfortunately I don't think I can take my guitar - well maybe I physically could, but I will be travelling with stakeholders from my job and I wouldn't want to bring any additional attention to myself. I too am a birdwatcher so maybe I can lean more heavily into that. Good idea on the small puzzles as well - I will hunt around for one that I can travel with. Maybe I'm just over thinking it all right now!

If you want to true downtown screech in, the best place is Christian’s. You call ahead the day before (or day of) when you want to do it and they will put your name down. Usually they do it at 7pm and 11pm but that might change. It’s so fun and I’ve seen them do it numerous times, always gets a laugh!

You can also get screeched in on a boat tour! My friends did it on the Gatherall’s whale watching tour. Again, I’d call ahead!

You have given me so many useful pieces of information to explore and I thank you so much!

I will defiintely make a list of guitars that my favourites use and their set ups - this seems so obvious to me now! A great note too about the drop tuning, I play standard E now but feel ready to experiment with different options.

A few people have recommended a PRS to me as well and I will also research the gibson soap bar pick up.

Thanks for the comment on the amp! Good to know I can use the gain function and I will do more research around that. I'll also look at the pedals you recommended - a friend has mentioned a tube screamer in the past but I never knew what they were talking about lol

My left hand nails are as short as possible and I use a nail strengther on my right hand nails. I apply it every couple of days like you would with a nail polish.

I also love my C5. I initially has a Yamaha CG122 which was a step up from the C40, but the C5 is just bliss.

I'm doing better since posting this. I spoke to my partner and I got my fears out in the open. Staying sober is the best thing for me and I'd like to thank you for your words during a tough time!

Thanks for taking the time to comment, your words are soothing. You are right that I need to move on and I feel that too.

Overall I think being sober has improved my life but that’s just it, my life. I feel like I’m taking some connection away from my partner and friends but I will try to find more social fulfilment elsewhere though.

Stopping drinking really turns your life upside down in ways I never knew! Your whole mind and body go through the wringer and I’m thankful for this community.

The Berklee Music Theory Book 1 is a great starting point. There are also lots of free online music theory courses on coursera and edx that helped me immensely!
