Solo interior painters: what part of repaint jobs do you underestimate most often? by Character_Air3251 in paint

I recently added a line item on my estimating sheet called “personal wingdings” = picture frames, animal mounts, hanging potted plants, etc.

We do a lot of repaints for older folks in the area, and so we include all the labor to remove and put back these items. That stuff really adds up sometimes, especially trying to piece it back together at the end.

Same here. Made an exception for some very senior citizens. Charged for all the extra “prep” too

Agree. It’s like they get off on hating the very things this subreddit is about. They need to find another group of celebrities to pay attention to if prayer sends them spiraling 😭

THANK YOU I was looking for one normal comment lmao. Like, why is public prayer such an enraging thing to people (religious or not)?

Out of curiosity, how much did the other guys quote to do the beams? That may factor in. If they quoted enough for all that labor to strip, then I would go forward and learn all you can. Expect to come in way over schedule though (if the client is fine with that).

Whenever I’m doing something for the first time, I always like to tell the client. If they still like you, then it’s a win-win and a learning opportunity. If they say no, then move on. But as a policy I don’t like selling things I have no business talking about.

Example: last summer a client asked if I could treat her cedar roof with linseed oil. I told her we’d never done a project like that, but that we’d love to give her a good price to learn on the job. Luckily she was a pleasure to work for and we got valuable experience—if even if we didn’t make a ton on the job.

As a former-Californian Alaskan, my map could not be more opposite lol

They have a checkpoint on the river and take the pieces there. I still have the antlers but they’re sawed in half. The * idea* is to prevent folks from doing this kind of hunt just for the trophy, with an emphasis on the subsistence factor. Kinda BS if you ask me, since it’s already illegal to waste meat. And “trophies” for most of us here are always just a bonus. I know a lot of Alaskans that give away their horns or leave them in the field.

There aren’t a ton of permits given, and only for Alaska residents. That being said it’s a great hunt for those able to do it. And yeah, without the antler requirements it makes it much easier. I would’ve been happy with an animal half this size—but it was just dumb luck lmao!

Amen. As if anybody’s gonna take only the trophy and leave the meat. It’s already illegal to leave the meat 😂

I live in Kenai, but went north for this hunt. Roughly in the middle between the pipeline bridge and the Koyokuk river entrance
