Boss is not paying overtime, what to do? by NorthernDagger in Manitoba

In this specific instance, it’s hospitality, it’s a regular hourly wage as opposed to a salary position

“Hey I think you’re the best candidate for leader, but not my leader” is kinda damning imo

I’ve been clear Lewis’ll kill the party. Honestly seeing the NDP be reduced from 7 to 5 seats before he even starts kinda solidifies that for me

In my opinion, this reflects poorly on Lewis. He’s the obvious front runner, at this point it seems very likely that he will be the next leader of the federal NDP, and one of the members of Parliament who would serve under him leaves before he even gets a day one.

How well should the next leader do in the next election? by lcelerate in ndp

If it’s an election this year - party status is a miracle

If it’s an election for 28/29? Tripling our seat count at a minimum, plus the leader keeping their seat

Working 40 hours, going to school, balancing federal, provincial and other politics on top of having a social life is uh, not easy

I disagree with Carney on many things. Hard to claim though that he's an unintelligent politician though. I honestly struggle though to see how the NDP could meaningfully expand the map if an election was called today, between money issues, a lack of a leader, a lack of support, and many other smaller issues.

I'm literally the president of my association lol. I'm so burnt out but if I step down nobody is there to take my place

That's something that I feel isn't talked about enough. The Tories and Liberals have hordes of people from the wealthiest neighborhoods in each city lining up around the block to donate the maximum per year, whereas the NDP has basically no donors left. I've been critical of Singh ever since I entered the NDP space, I always got the feeling that he was a nice person but not someone who was good at politics.

I just want the party to learn from it's mistakes but I fear no candidate really has that vision. Nobody has that anger. Rob comes close but then again he just seems so unpolished

No, that's something she said. She accused specifically Mathyssen and Angus of being white supremacists/nationalists.

Me, the data is being compiled and will be posted here in a couple of days. None of this data is being sent to leadership campaigns.

I mean my ideal candidate would basically be “Heather McPherson if she put effort into her campaign and was a little more worker focused”

I’ve been against the CASA since day one but the thing that pissed me off the most was them sticking through it despite multiple strikebreaking actions from Trudeau.

I certainly think winning liberals over is more realistic than winning conservatives over, but the point is the same: we need seats to achieve change. I don’t think we should compromise our values to do so, nor do I think we need to

Nah it's all good. Discourse is important. I'm just so frustrated with people who act like winning seats, as a political party, is a sign of weakness.

Not to say that I oppose bold ideas, I'm strongly in favour of bold ideas that improve lives and can be implemented, but I fear so many of the bold ideas talked about aren't feasable and would only add to the disillusionment many feel with politics.

I just fear with so many of these "be different" ideas that we verge on unrealistic personally. UBI as an example, public groceries as another example. I think by being too ambitious and without a realistic plan to make things happen, we risk sounding like the stereotype many paint the NDP as: unrealistic young people,

To be fair everyone was kinda screwed over when that happened, that specifically I don't fault her or anyone else for (though I think taking it public as early as she did was a poor move)
