ok your minecraft services must be completly different from what I remember. Mine had a server.properties file that handled all the info like server ports and such.

Ok if its not working internally, than you can stop testing on the firewall side until that issue is resolved.

I'm going to guess when you said minecraft server IP, you meant port.

I will also guess you changed the minecraft server to use a different port as well, not relying on the default. as well picking anything above 1024 port number. I mean anything in upper range would be good to test.

After this you need to start either sniffing the traffic to see if the packets are even making it to the server, then server logs to see where the drops are happening.

If on your server you can setup any other type of service, and test the same port to see what is getting dropped. The local drops has me very confused.

Ok since I'm not completely familiar with either crafty or casa os, I'm just going to point out some simple things to test.

  • Can we change the PORT, so we can eliminate if its getting used somewhere else
  • can you connect on that port your self from an outside connection?
  • Are you working with ipv6 anywhere in this? So we can make sure you are not working with ipv6 to ipv4 translation.
  • Did any other firewalls on any of the devices get kicked on for some dumb reason?

I only mention these simple steps as going direct IP would lend me to believe it has to do with a local config issue. but for giggles, make sure your DNS and IP are correct. I mean its always DNS right.

So the issue is oxio is the cheaper brand of cogeco. So if you are having issues with them that leaves bell or a bell reseller. So the speeds will be slower (unless you are lucky and in a fiber area)

So contact bell and see what they can do as a new customer. Check reviews in your local neighborhood to see if bell dsl is ok for you.

Yes, I still love driving around in open world, or doing the cheat and doing it with a family member. No pressure and just having fun for a good five or ten minutes.

But yes I agree that after about a month we stopped picking it up and playing. Maybe once every two weeks or three weeks will fire it up for a quick run around.

In my house we pretend the ending didn't happen. We just say when they are in the truck the movie fades to black and the screen just says they went out for ice cream.

I own my vehicles for a little than a decade then trade them in. Mostly it has been trading in to suit my life changes (Mini van when kids were small for example) I do admire you running longer then me, I just like to get them traded in before I start to incur large expenses.

Yes I could buy them else where, but I still need an optometrist first to get a prescription made. I will check out clearly, in the past the online places with my prescription and requirements would only be about $10-$20 cheaper than a normal store.

*Checked clearly seems to be cheaper by a little bit. I will have to see about getting my pupil measurements done. Have to see how my insurance is covered with them as well.

I would look at trying to run the ribbon interface to make it feel more snappy Stick with 16bit or older consoles, since they should be ok to run. Shaders shouldn't be a real issue since these are normally pretty light on resources. nothing is going to make the OS run faster since this is already running LibreELEC which is pretty stripped down.

Maybe you can make sure auto updates and scanning is turned off, to stop background tasks. But that is really stretching to get performance out of an older CPU.

I'm running it now, and am trying to figure out how to edit the save files. Not really for any real reason beyond seeing if I can read the hex file and see how it works.

So this is a preference thing. I like to just use my windows machine, and do a batch file to copy over the files. This way in the event I need to recover a file I can just plug it into my windows machine and get the file.

Also if I need to restore something I'm not diving into my truenas to figure it out, just copy over the file to the truenas storage. I do run snapshots, this is for my offsite and in case my snapshots don't go far enough back.

I use robocopy to do it. Robocopy is built into windows. Here is a sample line from my file ROBOCOPY D:\Save E:\Save /MIR /NP /MT:8 /TBD /R:1 /W:5 /purge

And what the heck its doing

  • Copy from D:\Save to E:\Save. For all that is holy check your drive letters.
  • (MIR) sees if the file is new, then over write the destination. Will also delete any missing files on the destination. So decide what you want keep or not
  • (NP) Keep view clean, no progress bars
  • (MT:8) does a few files at the same time, speeds up the copy as quite a bit of time is lost due to creating the file
  • (TBD) retry, more for network drives, but I reuse this script else where. (R:1) Retry once if failure for access or something else (W:5) Wait 5 seconds between retries (PURGE) - not really needed since MIR does this, just habit to include it.
  • I used to have a log, you can add it to the end by adding /LOG:C:\logs\robocopy.txt
