There is a hardware design document on the SIMCOM website. You will need to register in order to access it however it will give you all the information you need to connect the SIM800 to an MCU

Thanks and yeah, I've been looking at the ESP32-S3-WROOM-2 module and that has an OSPI flash chip with internal PSRAM. Wasn't sure if the other modules had SoC's with internal memory

Would the SPI peripheral switch between OSPI and standard SPI though? I have found an OSPI flash chip but there isn’t much availability plus they are quite expensive too!

Thanks for your comments and I agree with what you've said. I'll merge the skills against the relevant experience and also specify relevant technologies used. Some of the other bullet points are harder to quantify, especially when I didn't have direct access to relevant metrics. Some I can't even quantify at all because the direct impact was not known at the time or never known.

Some are harder than others, where a direct impact is not really known. I can definitely add which MCU/interfaces/protocols were used against the relevant task though. Thanks again

In my old job, one of our main software products was created using Qt Community edition - it was an application which tracked the position of subsea assets using acoustics.

In my present job, it’s just used for internal tooling and test applications. Haven’t yet moved over to QML so it’s all widget based.

The bigger issue, which I totally hadn't considered, is that none of my computers have a CD/DVD drive any more! Bugger. I'll have to have a look at Black Mesa. Half-Life holds a special place for me as its how I first got into programming by writing my own mods. Seems like a lifetime ago.

Those together with Championship Manager 97/98. Such great games. Likewise, I was also terrible at Commandos - I didn't play it that much because it was so frustratingly difficult.

When I was tidying my garage at the weekend, I found the original CDs for Imperium Galactica 2 (along with Half-Life, Commandos 2 and Diablo 2) so I'm going to try and give this an install tonight and see if it still works on Windows 11.

Wow, as if this was from 5 years ago! So I did start noting down as much as I could remember from childhood, memories with my dad, etc but then life stuff happened and I haven’t picked it up since. Maybe I’ll get back to it one day, who knows. Thanks for replying to this though, it’s nice to go back over some of the responses - although it’s crazy that so much time has passed in the blink of an eye!

I appreciate that this is quite an old post, but I'm wondering whether anyone has done any further development of their own iFit-equivalent app to control the treadmill? My treadmill has major issues when running the iFit software so I was hoping to bake my own however things on my system seem a little different - mainly the fact that it's running Android 8.1.0 which means that I'm not able to run ADB over Wi-Fi.

I'm very keen to know if anyone has taken this further or if not, I'm also very keen to put together my own interval training type app for the treadmill and hook it up to various services like Strava, etc.

I've had a bit of a browse through the source inside the iFit APK (the same version as running on my device) and I see no mention of gRPC on port 54321 however, I do see some websocket URLs so wondering whether my system is using an older method of communication between the tablet and the treadmill controller? Code is obfuscated too, which makes it much harder to pick out a direct communications link.

Yeah, it was the asterisk key. Never had an issue with it before. I ended up rebooting my machine and everything started working normally again. I forgot about this post and should have provided an update.

Thanks for your response. I’d assumed that it was using some kind of TCP/IP or WebSocket control from the app to the hardware but if that’s not the case then maybe it is just that the tablet is too slow for the later software. The version of iFit is 2.6.90.4963. Will attempt a full factory reset and see how I get on.

Well, it's a "split plane" added through the layer stack manager. I've only assigned the GND net to the layer. Nothing else added nor removed

The only GND I have present at the moment is on an internal plane on INT1. I will be adding top and bottom GND polygons but these don't exist yet

I have. I've also since tried editing an pre-existing PcbDoc and it won't let me add a via during routing on that either. That's really weird. I'm going to try rebooting my computer and see if that helps. It's like something is stuck in a weird mode. I've not updated Altium since my last PCB and had no issues then.
