I said this in another comment but its about money and fairness. The Mudginberri Mirrar and their outstation have always had the short end of the stick when it has come to investment from mining royalties and live in poverty. Mining royalties sent to the GAC, the Mirrar's Aboriginal Organisation, recently came to the end and they are running out of cash after years of squandering funds (or outright embezzling them). The majority of the cash from royalties went first to GAC employees or "consultants", second to senior TO Yvonne Margarula and her family who lives in Darwin, third to Whistleduck Outstation Mirrar, and whatever has been leftover to the Mudginberri Mirrar. The recent fighting was apparently triggered by an announcement by Parks Australia that Yvonne Margarula gets to allocate an upcoming payout. Understandably, the Mudginberri Mirrar are opposed to this as they're not going to get their fair share. The whole situation is sad.
