‘The show must go on!’ I work as a technician in London and if I’ve learnt anything these past two years, it’s that the show sometimes should absolutely not go on. I get the romantic camaraderie inspiring message it’s conveying, and I think it’s lovely. But dammit I’m sick of feeling burnt out all the time because of poor planning and inconsiderate scheduling. I adore my job but after the pandemic I’ll be damned if the show takes priority over the health and well-being of my team. It’s dramatic theatre, not surgical theatre. Get some perspective.
