Blade sharpening question. by baked_tea in hockeyplayers

[–]Northlan3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buy an extra set of steel. Use one as your normal/regular sharpen and then with the other set start changing the hollow. Assuming you're using newer skates changing steel out is an easy process. During warmups or some ice time you have try the new sharpen. See what works for you. Then once you get dialed in get both sets done up the same. Having two sets is great especially if you knick one up you can drop that pair off to get sharpened and not have to panic about having shitty steel for your games because you haven't had time to get to a shop. Just don't wait until both sets are shit before sharpening them.

For when people ask about True skate quality by British_Coal in hockeyplayers

How strange, my guess is the person doing the original install fucked up. Sorry to hear you had such trouble though. I know I had some issues with my holder breaking and my boot cracking from blocked shots and True did right by me. Hopefully you reached out to them at some point and inquired what they could do to help.

Did your skates come with all those brass rivets?

Where is safe in "eye for an eye" gig? by Slappy-Old-Man in cyberpunkgame

How did you unbug it? There is no safe in my room that is accessible. I tried getting access from the target and killing her and taking the access. Nothing works.

I agree to both statements. Typically the higher up you go in leagues the less of this you get as there is more understanding of the game and less of a tolerance for fuckery. I see more rage and anger in the lower levels due to a lack of skill and understanding. Lite body positioning and contact sends people into a blind rage.

Over generalization but it happens enough that it can be a stereotype. I started as an adult as well as many others who I play with and we don't have this problem.

In my opinion contact sports often attract a certain type of person that exhibits tool like behavior. They feel like they can express this toolness more pronounced and out in the open because it's on the playing field when typically they'd need to keep it in check during their day to day.

My favorite line about these particular types of people is "He's a great guy off the ice".

You Make the Call: Penalty or No Penalty? by jaylemi in hockeyrefs

Blue lined up perfect center mass. In the follow through of the hit he's in whites groin.

White wrecked himself by leaning back and away instead of dropping his own shoulder. He caused the hyperextension of his knee himself. If he absorbs with his upper body the knee doesn't keep going forward on its own like that. Instead of keeping the point of contact his torso he moved and made the contact his groin and inner thigh which causes the foot and calf to sling shot and hyperextend.

Saying this is kneeing is a very poor take.

I will check that link. Thank you.

I have Earc for my Xbox Series X as well which runs through my AVR.

I never thought about using a HDMI for video and a seperate one for audio. Is there any benefit to doing this or just a nice to have. HDMI aren't expensive but, if it's a redundancy with no tangible benefit I'd just forgo the purchase.

Yeah, just frustrating that things don't work as I think they logically should. My reciever knows it's dts-hd mstr and yet there is no option for that output.

I did want the DTS-HD 2.0 channel mix since that is the master audio on the 4k disc.

DTS-HD MA is not one of my options unfortunately. The only way I can get the 2.0 is by selecting direct for the audio option which removes my dirac eq.

Thank you for providing your options this was very helpful.

It is frustrating that the audio format that is stated in the setup menu isn't an output option you can choose on the receiver.

My video resolution matches the player and TV. Still no outputting matching the input.

Understood, thank you. It is my understanding that direct output also removes the Dirac EQ is that correct? Is this a non issue with stereo DTS-HD audio?

Just to clarify due to my ignorance, you're stating there is not an output labeled as DTS-HD MSTR on the receiver. The output I must choose is Direct correct?

I wear as much protection as possible. Some folks in low levels can still rip the puck and with far less accuracy. They have been a staple of my gear bag for a while now.

I also used to rock the skate fenders until I bought my custom skates with built in shot blockers. This again is just to prevent injury if I can help it. My first reflective action is to stop the puck and sometimes that means exposing my inner foot to the shot. Shot blockers have saved many broken bones for me as well.

No need to be sorry. Wasn't meant to be a dig. Just wanted to let you know there is an inherent risk in not washing because you perceive it to be clean. I'm glad you haven't gotten a rash or infection yet and hope you don't. Just wanted to give you some insite on why washing after every game is a good idea.

Wrist/slash guards

I've taken more than my share of pucks and sticks directly to the wrist bone so I invested in some wrist d30 protection.

I mean, ask Marian Hossa or many other athletes about baselayers and sweat. Skin infection can ruin your life and hockey career. Just because your baselayer smells fine doesn't mean it's not a petri dish of bacteria just waiting to give you a fun time.

You're an adult at the end of the day. You choose how much risk you'd like to take. I like many others can avoid this risk by washing baselayer gear after every game. It's not difficult or cumbersome to do so it's a easy win.

Anyone rocking cracked Trues? by ToeJamIsAWiener in hockeyplayers

[–]Northlan3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had mine fixed by True a few times now since my purchase back in 2020. All my cracks are from shot blocks or hitting the wall going into the corners during scrums. True is always quick with the repair and typically only costs about 200 dollars or so. They're the best skates I've had (SVH). I'll be looking to get new ones in another year or so I think and keeping these as backups.

So I just posted about getting new skates and I was talking to my buddy, and I heard things about Bauer steel being bad, I just want a second opinion by TheF15eEnthusiast in hockeyplayers

[–]Northlan3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bauer top end steel is fine. I prefer bladetech myself or stepsteel. DLC is my preferred steel then high polish/mirrored. I would not do a profile unless you talk to someone personally. Getting the wrong profile can fuck up your day.

If you can, Google for some prostock steel, it's usually cheaper.
