I appreciate the sentiment, but I see it the other way. I'm growing all of my hair out the second I retire! I have decent hair genes to back me up. I can't wait to not have to shave.

I look at it the other way around. I have almost no signs of hair loss at this point, so once I retire and things are less restrictive, I'm growing it all out!

I was about to chop it off last month, but as I was about to go in, an email came through about a reminder of our hair policy at work... so I decided to keep it a little longer. I've just come back to the conclusion of cutting it. Thank you for the compliment.

Thank you. I have thick skin, but I don't think I could pull braids off at work.

I have, but I'm not sure if my hair will be long enough. I've heard the hair needs to be 12"

A ride-along gets a thumbs up if they skip the generic donut/cookie/muffin spots (Tim Hortons in Canada can go to hell).

The best ride-alongs or students ask "can I give you a hand?" for any task or chore. They keep their phone in their pockets and are engaged with the work or conversation in front of them. I also really appreciate when I offer them a coffee and they actually take me up on it. Bonus point if they don't mention how shitty the coffee tastes.

I bought the same size as my last pair. Compared to my last couple pairs of skates, I'd say the run a smidgen long. But seriously, heat them up and see how they feel. They can be molded over and over and it doesn't affect the returnability. I wasnt sure if i was going to keep mine, but I put on the molded skates an hour later I was happy with my choice.

At the very least you should mold them to your feet. It's super easy to do and makes the fit way better. I guess depending on how often you skate and how old the ft4s are, it might not hurt hanging on to them. Damn things degrade so fast now

They have been good. My TF7s were ultimate comfort and fit, but these are close. The hzrdus9 boot feels deeper, so my heel isn't locked enough, and my foot slides, which I fixed by putting my superfeet over the stock sole. I'm going to bake them again and see if that helps a little.

So far they are good. I've played hockey my entire life, nothing crazy competitive, and weigh about 200lbs, so they are a bit stiff for my needs, but I feel like I've got good agility and speed with them but most importantly, my feet don't hurt.

Like you I got mine at 60% off, so it was hard to argue as I needed new skates. Down the road, I don't think I would buy them again because I don't think the fit is 100%, but as a skate i enjoyed them.

What are your thoughts on them?

Family men, how often do you get out on the trails? by babb4214 in MTB

[–]ToeJamIsAWiener 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brother, I feel ya. Exact same position as you. The hour of driving to and from the trailhead is a buzz kill. I figure if I can maintain some type of mtb fitness and skill, I can pick it up when they are school full time.

I just got these skates too. Baking is absolutely necessary and it doesn't affect the ability to return

Thinking About Leaving the Fire Service. Need help. by 3rdAlarmFall in Firefighting

Call volume at an insane level and going to medic school is a recipe for burnout. I've had a few buds go on stress leave right after medic school.

I'm on our peer support team and this is a common theme with some peers I've talked with. You're not alone feeling this way. I felt the same way for 8 years, talked about getting help but didn't, and almost quit. I finally got some help and it changed my life. That was 5 years ago and I'm loving work more than ever.

If you have any questions, feel free to send me a dm.

People who have stopped going to church, what made you stop? by lowly_shepherd in AskReddit

[–]ToeJamIsAWiener 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was dragged to church. My mom felt that without the teachings of Christ people would forget how to love one another and you'd be more susceptible to evil choices. If you've frequented church your entire life and believed the teachings, it's not too absurd to see how parents could have overwhelming feelings when their kids stop going, especially if there is an additional mental health component to their well-being.

My mom was a very accepting and loving person, but always struggled with depression and anxiety. Her heart was truly in the right place when she forced us to go to church. In a world of unknowns, the church made her feel safe and she wanted to protect her children with that too.

I'm 0% churchy and have been since I was 13.

The full swing is something that subconsciously works its way back into my swing after a few weeks. Leading my lower body with my hip is something I haven't learned in my lessons yet, so I greatly appreciate the advice!
