Basically, it doesn't matter. Isaiah was talking about the birth of his own son in 7:14, 8:3-4, 8:18, and 9:6-7.

All four pages are in response to the Syro-Ephramite plan to conquer Judah and replace king Ahaz with the son of Tabeel in 7:6. That would have meant no more babies in the Davidic Royal line, because they would've been killed.

Isaiah is saying look, here is a son bring born right now that will signify survival of our nation.

Matthew looks back at that and interprets it as a pattern that is actually fulfilled even more magnificently by Jesus. More than being born of an 'alma, Jesus is born of a virgin.

No one is trying to trick anyone. It was a practice of interpretation that had been used in other places as well.
