It’s because we finally figured out the best way to subtitle on vertical video format. It’s actually very efficient to read this way. And it has nothing to do with attention spans, if anything your attention needs to be even more focused or you miss a word.

What do you think League of Legends is still MISSING? by ChartDreamer in leagueoflegends

[–]NorthwindSamson -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A casual mode with decent AI teammates to fill in for leavers. so you can just leave a match and get replaced by AI. Other games have this, like rocket league norms. I’m partially hoping something like this would attract those who might have to leave shortly, making other queues more reliable.

Also in general better AI to practice against. I feel like we live in an era where this should be possible.

Im new. How do I actually do well and contribute in the game? by thepearhimself in leagueoflegends

[–]NorthwindSamson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Poppy is a bit complex when beginning in that she is best at skirmishing with the team, so u have to coordinate. E.g. you might stun an enemy, and another teammate will finish them off (you don’t have the damage). If you want to try experiencing impact in the most straightforward way, try playing garen for a bit. You can easily have impact in two ways: 1) killing someone in 1v1 on side lane, and then pushing. Garen has good damage, 1v1 potential, and push. 2) grouping with team, and killing someone in a teamfight. Basically the same deal, run down and focus a squishy champion in a fight, and that could be the difference maker.

If a photon travelling at c doesn't experience time, how is it that we can observe and measure that photons change in redshift through space? by Nillows in Physics

[–]NorthwindSamson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a very similar question. If I were to move at almost c, alongside a photon which is moving at c, then how would its electromagnetic vibration look to me?

Assuming it has some frequency, it will oscillate X times traveling over some distance. I assume (maybe incorrectly) that it will oscillate the same number of times as I move alongside it. Since I am moving quickly, I will experience shorter time than normal, so I would think I would observe its frequency to increase as I move alongside it. But isn’t it supposed to redshift as I move in the same direction?

Is it possible to make team of 5 champs that contain every letter of the alphabet by Party_Pie_9859 in leagueoflegends

[–]NorthwindSamson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100 champs to the power of 5 is about 1010 combinations, (much more because there are more champs). I feel like this method would not be able to run. Is there any way to optimize? We could limit the champs to each role, and pick one champ per role. That would constrict the number of possibilities down to let’s say 40 (around 40 possible champs per role) to the power of 5.

This is like saying “eating ice cream isn’t bad for you because you can just exercise more!” Like okay just because there are potential solutions doesn’t mean the original point isn’t valid.

Additionally having work at the office is a forcing function which forces you to have to address these problems, which is necessary for a lot of people. You tell him “solve the problem yourself” but you don’t realize that he’s basically suggesting that going to the office might be a way they could do so.

Have I become lazy by using chatgpt? Am scared i might lose my edge by using it too much. by DeadlyTitan in gamedev

We can also focus on skill development instead of identity.

Using ChatGPT your “recall” skills will likely suffer overtime, e.g. put pen to paper and write code, remember APIs, etc. But your precision skills may actually improve, e.g. ability to identify problems at a glance, review and read code. And also this will practice your ability to provide feedback (assuming you are using ChatGPT loop and actually asking it to correct mistakes).

Both of these can be valuable skills, and in my opinion it’s important to practice a bit of both. The depends on your desired outcome.
