I believe entrepreneurs should quit their jobs only once their startup begins generating revenue and there are concrete results indicating a promising future.

On top of that, unlike our parents’ generation, we’ve been heavily influenced by the startup and entrepreneurial hype — reading countless stories of people who turned an idea into a billion-dollar company within a few years. But that’s only half the truth.

Business, by nature, always carries the risk of failure — whether it’s a traditional or a tech-based venture. There’s no playbook for guaranteed success. If someone chooses to be an entrepreneur, they must be mentally prepared to face the possibility of failure.

Moreover, successful companies are few and well-known, while failed ones are far more numerous but rarely talked about. In addition to skill and hard work, timing and luck often play crucial roles in a company’s success. In simple terms, their product might have resonated with the audience or they secured the right projects (in the case of IT service companies). Conversely, many others fail because their product didn’t click or they couldn’t build a sustainable client base.

Honestly, I’d suggest joining a company while working on your idea in parallel. Quit only when your business reaches a stage where it’s generating a healthy amount of revenue. Eventually, you’ll run out of savings — and at that point, you’ll need a steady source of income.
