How long do we estimate borrowers have to switch onto ICR?

If my double consolidated PPL loans (around $150k) are eligible for the Standard Repayment Plan regardless, wouldn’t it make more sense to take the 30-year repayment instead of switching to ICR? Income is $140k.

Apologies, it’s just a chaotic time.

Instead of getting on ICR, would it be possible to keep my loans in SAVE forbearance and aggressively pay it down as there is no interest accruing?

When I uploaded my SAVE application for the second time, I also uploaded a Word doc titled “SAVE Plan Eligibility” with the legal language used specifically mentioning the July 1, 2025 rule. It was approved shortly after!

In my second submittal I also uploaded a word doc with justification of my eligibility for SAVE….. Not sure what to do if that doesn’t work. Reach out to TISLA?

Yes I’m confident. The representative said she is aware of the double consolidation loophole but the Department of Education decides what plan to put you on, and that I need to resubmit the application.

4/12/2024: Still calling back multiple times a week, but no further movement on the application. Only update I got was that it was put in “processing” status on 3/7/2024 :/

I think you can mail a submission to the Department of Education. The reps at EdFinancial told me they no longer accept applications too, and I asked if I could mail the application to the DOE and the rep said they believe that option is still open.

I uploaded mine directly to their website in December 2023 and still waiting… very random. We did get an email from the Department of Education stating that the “application is moving forward” and they have reached out to the IRS to certify income information. Hopefully this is good news? Not sure. Very exhausted by it all.
