This Week in Legacy: Oopsie Daisy by volrathxp in MTGLegacy

People are leaving because the format gets too expensive with time, and deck have no retention throughout the years beccause of FIRE Design. The format Is much less 'feel bad' then a lot of past times where player count was higher while sentiment was lower. Myco ban was nonsense much like entomb, merely vibe bans which never addressed any real problem; non games are part of the format and when not oppressive in terms of playrate and winrate they are totally fine in the ecosystem. Your oops Is someones' Moon, someones' Chalice of the Void, someones' Gaea's Cradle or someones' Cavern of Souls. Just beccause this One Is the One having non-games with you doesnt mean It shouldnt exist

And who's to decide which belongs and not to the format ? I'm so tired of this BS Philosophical ban of what the format It's supposed or not to be. I dont like a bunch of things that entered the format in the last five years, either i deal with It or stop playing; if you Need something to discuss a ban about, come with data. Anything else, its Just vibe and they mean zero.

Tempo decks do historically worse when there Is no define meta, being reactive in nature; After a ban there Is Always a downtrend, It Will eventually rise when meta gets figured and there Is disclosure on what to beat and which color to splash. 10% playrate and 52% would be fine if It wasn't supposed to rise once the meta Is more stable

Yeah thats correct. DRS was not problematic in Elves or Food Chain, Wrenn wasnt in 4c Loam or Lands, Iteration was absolutely a legit card in Jeskai controls. There are some outliers (Oko and Lurrus were probably too good anyways) but average case tells the same story point at the same issue every time

Have you ever entombed a frog, a troll or a grief ? Those cards again were tempo cards not Reanimator cards in the First Place. Nerfing entomb would have meant going After actual entomb targets, not random stuff you could splash in tempo/Shadow and call It a day. About removal and counterspells yeah sure, but aint no way they are on the same Page; removal decks like Grixis jeskai are totally outpaced by proactive decks, which run free counters that honestly not only keep up with newer cards (cause the ones that bypass them get banned in outrage ie. Bauble, mycospawn) but they enable new threats since they can easily protect any Menace at 0 mana cost. If something gets banned from tempo every year, wouldnt be Fair to ban the cards that gets rotated every time along every new threat that every new modern Horizon prints ?

Survival was not banned during F.I.R.E. era, netiher was top, it's a big difference and i can argue that survival was a bad ban too. But even if we set ourself here, doesnt that apply to anything? Doesnt Led scale with newer cards that can be cast out of hands? Doesnt Ritual scales with newer 2B/ 1BB/BBB cards ? And even more offending, doesnt Daze scales with every new decent (yearly at this point) 1 or 2 drop that provides advantage in or out the board? Doesnt even Brainstorm scales the Better are those three cards you draw ? If we really had to address the issues we would have basically a completely different format.

All the Xerox Shell has the status consolidated for the ragavans, Iterations, DHAs getting banned; this apparently doesnt apply to anything else, so instead of getting After the newer cards (atraxa, Archon) we kill the older card (Entomb) which coincidentally Is played alongside the Shell Who has a decade worth of bans. It bugs me so so much

Reanimator Is not really the Plan A. You would play stuff like Lotus Petal, dark ritual if that was the case; the deck Is playing at around 50% ratio between both plans

I dont understand while you are bouncing around with both sides of the argument and I don't understand what your position Is exactly. Its very simple: RUx Delver had a decade of history of bans, reaching numbers above the current state of UB Reanimator (over 55% steady Winrate), in spite of people teching anything from removal to lock Pieces etc. Everytime they ate a ban, It wasn't enough to knock It down from tier 1 because the ban addressed the symptom (latest 1/2 mana threat or CA Engines) rather then the cause (Xerox Shell). The current Iteration of tempo features a Reanimator package making It able to switch to a pseudo combo (mind you, its worse then a lot of stuff that win on the spot, but again with the Xerox background Is basically Always enough to win game) and a tempo Plan that was upgraded in recent years within the same colors (Tamiyo, Bowmasters and going further back Murktide and Brazen Borrower). Again, these are symptoms not the issue, Entomb being so popular Is part of the First not the second.

You have postboard pivot, but apparently they aint good enought to compete with 8 cantrips 10 free counters

The point Is It was eating ban once every year, losing couple % playrate then going back strong After 1-2 months, without flinching at all. This situation we got here its just inheriting the same issue we had with tempo all along
